Submersion god rolls and how to get them in Destiny 2

You don't need to raid for this one.

So far, crossbows in Destiny 2 have been exclusive to the Desert Perpetual raid, with Opaque Hourglass dropping from the Epoptes (Hydra) encounter. Ash & Iron introduced Submersion, another crossbow that’s not limited to endgame content, but can also be hard to get.

Submersion is a Stasis crossbow, and much like the Opaque Hourglass, it features bolts that you can recover from targets and the environment, essentially granting infinite Heavy ammo as long as you can pick the bolts up before they disappear.

Here are our Submersion god rolls for PvE and PvP in Destiny 2.

What is the Submersion god roll in Destiny 2?

Submersion PvE god roll

  • Rail: Mag-Lev Rail
  • Bolt: Explosive Bolts
  • Perk one: Auto-Loading Holster
  • Perk two: Chill Clip
  • Masterwork: Persistence

Submersion PvP god roll

  • Rail: Mag-Lev Rail
  • Bolt: Spring-Auger Bolts
  • Perk one: Impulse Amplifier
  • Perk two: Headstone or Chill Clip
  • Masterwork: Velocity

Submersion can roll the Auto-Loading Holster in the third column to always keep the mag full, but you can also go for something like Bolt Scavenger. Bolt Scavenger increases reload speed for three seconds and works well with Serrated Bolts that deal damage when recovered from living targets.

Persistence

Persistence is a stat unique to crossbows. The higher the stat, the longer the bolts will linger in the world before disappearing.

In the fourth column, the best perk is Chill Clip. It can freeze in two shots, and the rest of the perks aren’t as exciting. The only exception might be Headstone, but it’s not something you really need on a Heavy weapon to deal with bosses.

Crossbows in PvP are more for fun, but you can have very distinct play styles, depending on your bolt. You can use Serrated Bolts to fight up close and deal additional damage when pulling them out of enemies, or just go for the Heavy Bolts and double down on damage. There are also Spring-Auger Bolts that have a chance to cause flinch.

The perk choice is quite basic. There’s Impulse Amplifier in the third column that increases projectile velocity by 35 percent. In the fourth column, you can go with Headstone if you’re going for precision kills to get that one-shot, or Chill Clip to apply additional slow.

How to get Submersion in Destiny 2

Reclaim activity in Destiny 2
There will be more events. Screenshot by Dot Esports

Submersion is a rare drop from all events during Ash & Iron. With the launch of the update, you can get it by playing Reclaim activities, where you can also get the new Folded Root rocket launcher and Romantic Death grenade launcher. Later events will have slightly increased chances, and during Call to Arms at the end of the season, you’ll be able to focus it and get a Holofoil version.

Unless you want to grind the new activity, your best bet to get the crossbow is to wait until it becomes available to focus. Considering it’s a low chance to get right now, it might take quite a few tries for you to get even a single copy, not to mention the god roll.
