How to complete Heliostat Exotic mission in Destiny 2

No SIVA here.

It’s time to return to the Plaguelands once more as Maya is trying to launch one of the Warsats. The Heliostat Exotic mission in Destiny 2 gives a glimpse of what’s left of the dead SIVA technology and allows you to get a nanite-infused Exotic axe.

Shielding Psions

The opening section of the mission is very straightforward. Follow the path until you reach a rally spot. In this mission, rally circles allow you to summon Psions. The Shielding Psions give you a 14-second-long shield against radiation. Enter the facility and summon Psions on the way to stay safe.

Shortly, you’ll reach another rally spot that summons a Quicksilver Psion. This Psion can remove barriers blocking the way. Summon the Psion, kill the Radiolaria Nexus Minotaur, and stand in the Vex pool to charge up Radiolarial Suffusion. Once you have the Radiolarial Saturation buff, follow the Psion to the barrier and help them remove it.

In the next room, you need to do the same, but also shoot nodes to progress the encounter. These nodes look the same as in the Spire of the Watcher dungeon—blue glowing diamonds. Shoot the node, remove the barrier, then rinse and repeat until the hatch in the middle of the room is open.

Door traversal

Jump down the hatch into the room with water, and interact with the terminal to open the door. There are many doors in this room, many of which have electric traps that kill you. Looking at the terminal, you need the door in the back right corner.

In the next corridor:

  1. Take the farthest door on the top left side.
  2. Keep going and take the far right door to return to the main hall.
  3. Jump across into the next door.
  4. Turn left and the farthest right door

A small hole on the left side of the corridor takes you to the next section.

Hacking Psions

The last type of Psion in the Heliostat mission is the hacking Psion. Interact with the terminal with a red circle to assign the Psion. This leaves you to find the other terminal and execute a partner hack.

In the next room, assign the Psion to the terminal on the right side, and go to the left side to execute the partner hack. There are three terminals, each with a different symbol. Check the symbol on the computer in the back of the room, and interact with the corresponding terminal for the partner hack.

Head down the hatch while shooting nodes on the way (jump to slow down) to remove electric barriers and reach the next area with the blue facility.

Access Central Observation

Inside the blue facility, the objective is similar to what you just did. The central monitors show three symbols in a sequence, left to right. This section has three rooms, each with three symbols available for the partner hack.

Call in the Psion, find the room that has your first symbol, assign the Psion to the terminal, use the vents to enter the room, and interact with the terminal. Then repeat the steps two more times with the remaining symbols.

Clear the adds and interact with the green terminal in the center room to proceed.

Override the Gravlift

Outside the blue facility, there are now two active elevators. Take either one of them and follow the path until the very end, while summoning Psions to shield yourself from radiation. In the corridor at the very end of each side, there’s a green terminal you need to activate.

Use the red portals to return to the middle, then repeat for the other side. When both terminals are active, you can use the red portal to get to the gravlift and ascend to the final encounter.

Defeat Valus Thunn

The boss fight combines all the Psions. Kill the Minotaurs to the Radiolarial Staturation buff and help Quicksilver Psions to open doors. Set up the partner hack inside the rooms with the Hacking Psion to start the damage phase.

At every health threshold, the boss detains Psions and summons a Warden Wyvern. Kill the Warden to free the Psions and allow the Shielding Psion to protect you from incoming radiation. Keep dealing damage until the boss is dead.

After killing Valus Thunn, summon all three Psions, then shoot the satellite to complete the Heliostat Exotic mission and get Wolfsbane Exotic.
