Dave the Diver is going head-to-head with Fortnite for the crown of best collabs

Diving to new depths.

Look out Fortnite, there’s a challenger in town in the battle for the crown of best collabs after Dave the Diver’s surprising trio of announcements today.

Ahead of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live on Aug. 20, Dave the Diver appeared in the pre-show with a hat trick of collaboration announcements that expand the depth (pun intended) of the title.

Coming in October, Dave the Diver will receive a flood of new content in collaborations with Balatro, Potion Craft, and American singer-songwriter MXMToon.

Although full details of the collabs have not been shared yet, they give Dave the Diver three more feathers in its cap after previous collabs with Godzilla and DREDGE.

There’s admittedly a long way to go until Dave the Diver can truly tussle with Fortnite for the ultimate collab crown, but the Mint Rocket title continues to make huge strides deep into its lifespan when many would have expected it to fall to the wayside.

It’s unclear whether the new content will be free or paid DLC, but the trailer shown today gave a tease of what to expect—and the collab with MXMToon appeared to show her diving alongside the titular character. So does this mean we’ll finally get co-op?

I certainly hope so, mostly because I’m tired of doing all the work in the sushi bar and I’d love to palm it off to someone else. Nothing is more capitalism than building a successful business and then never working again, instead handing all responsibility off to underpaid workers.

I also like the idea of feeding whoever is playing with me to a huge shark if they annoy me, so I sincerely hope this is one of the big features being introduced.
