Warzone playlist update – What happened to Duos and Trios?

BR fans will have to fly solo or grab several friends for the time being.

It happens time and time again. Warzone players log on for some games with friends only to find out their favorite playlist is no longer available.

Raven Software does this to rotate playlists occasionally and keep things fresh, but Call of Duty players like what they like. Unfortunately for some players, the battle royale game likely won’t be changing its ways any time soon, as a recent playlist change has hit harder than most.

One of Warzone’s most controversial changes in some time removed both Duos and Trios, in both BR and Resurgence, leaving players very little choice on how to play the game in Modern Warfare 3’s final days ahead of the launch of Black Ops 6.

Here are all of the details currently available on the removal of Duos and Trios in Warzone.

Why were Duos and Trios removed from Warzone?

Duos and Trios were removed from Warzone on Sept. 27 because Raven Software, the makers of Warzone, said it was “consolidating the current playlist selection” to help “make preparations for the future of Warzone.”

Black Ops 6 releases on Oct. 25, but it will not be integrated into Warzone until season one of BO6, which is likely to begin some time in the beginning of December. When that happens, Warzone will get all of BO6’s features.

This means that, in season one of BO6, Warzone will get omnimovement, Black Ops 6 weapons, and a whole new list of Perks to go along with it. The changes will also include the removal of the backpack for a simplified inventory, addition of infinite sprint, new Mastery camos, and more.

The announcement of Duos and Trios being removed was met with universal disdain. It seems as though Duos and Trios are a favorite among players, as it strikes a good balance between Solos and Quads, which offer team sizes that are not preferable when it comes to Urzikstan.

“We gotta figure this one out,” said popular streamer TeePee, who spends all of his work days playing Warzone. “This ain’t it.”

“RIP to the social media guy posting this who had zero influence over this decision,” said another streamer IceManIsaac.”

In general, everybody disliked it, but it seems to be necessary somehow for Raven to continue working on integrating BO6 into Warzone and re-shaping the experience ahead of new seasons, and even the return of player-favorite BR map Verdansk in 2025.

Right now, it’s unclear when Duos and Trios will return, but it’s possible they could be back once Black Ops 6 releases on Oct. 25. It’s also possible that Raven may wait to add them back until later on so that players will focus on BO6 after it drops.

“Trios will continue to be available via Ranked Play, with the current season ending on Thursday, Oct. 17,” Raven said. “We look forward to sharing more details in the future.”

So, for now, it seems as though Solos and Quads will be the only options moving forward in Warzone for the foreseeable future, unless you want to play Resurgence Ranked for Trios. Whenever Raven decides to share “more details in the future,” Warzone players will likely be salivating for the return of their favorite playlists and waiting eagerly to drop back in again.

The return of Duos and Trios in Warzone is a fluid situation. This article will be updated when any new information is released by Raven Software or Activision over the course of the days and weeks leading up to BO6 and beyond.
