Full Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree map – All regions and key locations

The Land of Shadow is vast and expansive with tons to discover, so we'll help you get around.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree adds a gigantic map full of things to find. The Land of Shadow is far bigger than we were expecting, with a whole host of dungeons, caves, catacombs, and more to explore.

To help you navigate the new region, we’ve mapped out all regions and key locations in the Elden Ring DLC right here.

Elden Ring DLC—Full map of the Land of Shadow

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree‘s map is around the size of two full zones from the base game. There’s easily enough content to keep you going for a few dozen hours, and I spent close to 50 hours exploring the Land of Shadow to find every secret and hidden collectible I could find.

The Land of Shadow is impressively diverse, with a broad range of unique-looking biomes throughout the map. Keep reading to see the full Elden Ring map with all the regions color-coded, followed by some key information about each.

All regions in Elden Ring DLC

Gravesite Plain

Gravesite Plain is the first region of Elden Ring’s expansion, where you initially enter the Land of Shadow. There are rolling golden fields covered in spectral tombstones, and the region has connections to several other zones in the DLC. From Gravesite Plain, you can get to Shadow of the Erdtree’s first Legacy Dungeon, Belurat, Tower Settlement.

Scadu Altus

Scadu Altus is the second major region of the expansion. You access it by beating the Castle Ensis mini-Legacy Dungeon in northern Gravesite Plain. There’s another mini Fort-style dungeon, the Fort of Reprimand, in the south, and you can access the DLC’s second Legacy Dungeon, Shadow Keep, in the north.

Cerulean Coast

Cerulean Coast is my favorite zone of the expansion. There are gorgeous, rolling blue hills and vibrant fields. There aren’t many unique enemies here, but the zone does connect to another mini-Legacy Dungeon, Stone Coffin Fissure, which hides an interesting secret at the bottom.

Charo’s Hidden Grave

The upper level of Cerulean Coast is called Charo’s Hidden Grave, and it’s just as pretty, except there are red grassy fields instead of blue ones. You get to this area by descending through Dragon’s Pit and heading south toward the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion instead of east toward Jagged Peak.

Jagged Peak

Jagged Peak is the fearsome mountain you see looming over the Land of Shadow from the start of the expansion. Like Charo’s Hidden Grave, you must clear Dragon’s Pit to get here. Jagged Peak is mostly linear, but you get some of the coolest rewards in the expansion here, like Dragon Form—and the boss at the end, Bayle the Dread, is one of FromSoftware’s best.

Abyssal Woods

The Abyssal Woods encompasses the spooky lowland forest area east of Gravesite Plain. You get here by clearing the Darklight Catacombs mini-dungeon in south Scadu Altus. The Abyssal Woods is a controversial zone, and for good reason—there’s not much loot there, and the enemies pursue you relentlessly, but the mini-Legacy Dungeon at the end, Midra’s Manse, is one of the best in the game.

Rauh Base

Rauh Base is the lowland area below the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. You can access a tiny section of this region when you visit Fog Rift Catacombs from Gravesite Plain, but the main zone is accessible via the cave north of Moorth Ruins. A cave entrance behind a Queen Marika statue (with a Scadutree Fragment in front) leads to an area with poison pools, and if you continue onward, you get to Rauh Base.

Ancient Ruins of Rauh

The upper level of Rauh Ruins, the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, is only accessible via the Specimen Storehouse after Shadow Keep. It’s a fairly expansive area with one mandatory boss, Romina, Saint of the Bud, plus two minor bosses that are both repeats from the DLC.

Hinterlands

The Hinterlands is the northeasternmost region of the Land of Shadow. The entrance is fairly well-hidden—you need to use the O Mother emote in front of a Queen Marika statue by the Shadow Keep, Back Gate Site of Grace.

Scaduview

From Shadow Keep, Church District, after you drain the water, there’s a tunnel leading north to an area at the base of the Scadutree with a challenging boss—the Scadutree Avatar. There’s also another area of Scaduview connected to the Hinterlands, the Scadutree Chalice, where you can pick up five Scadutree Fragments.

All dungeons in Elden Ring DLC

There are two major Legacy Dungeons in Elden Ring’s DLC and three smaller ones, along with a slew of mini-dungeons like catacombs and mines. For all the information you need, check out our comprehensive guide to all Legacy Dungeons in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Legacy Dungeons

1a. Belurat, Tower Settlement

Belurat, Tower Settlement is probably the first Legacy Dungeon you’ll encounter if you’re exploring Gravesite Plain. It’s a great introduction to the DLC’s difficulty curve and has a fantastic boss at the end—Divine Beast Dancing Lion.

1b. Enir-Ilim

Enir-Ilim is the hardest Legacy Dungeon in Shadow of the Erdtree and it makes the most sense to visit it last, but it’s technically connected to Belurat. You can access Enir-Ilim after killing Messmer the Impaler in the Specimen Storehouse and Romina, Saint of the Bud in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh.

2a. Shadow Keep

Shadow Keep is the second major Legacy Dungeon of the expansion. It’s in the far north of Scadu Altus, and the entrance is guarded by a challenging boss that marks the first difficulty spike in Shadow of the Erdtree—the Golden Hippopotamus.

2b. Specimen Storehouse

The Specimen Storehouse is the second part of Shadow Keep. It’s a huge, vertical dungeon with tons of floors and a surprising number of secret areas. You fight Messmer here, and he roughly marks the midpoint of the expansion. There’s also a hidden back section you can only access via the Church District.

2c. Shadow Keep, Church District

The Church District is a hidden third section of Shadow Keep. To get here, drop down the hole in Moorth Ruins and go past Bonny Village until you get to the northeastern area of Scadu Altus. You can access the Church District from here. It’s a somber flooded castle town reminiscent of New Londo Ruins in Dark Souls and leads to the challenging Scadutree Avatar boss fight.

3. Castle Ensis

Castle Ensis is a mandatory mini-Legacy Dungeon that you need to beat to access Scadu Altus. The boss at the end, Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, is an epic fight that’s surprisingly tricky for characters new to the expansion. It isn’t as big as Belurat or Shadow Keep, but it’s interconnected like a Legacy Dungeon and has a major boss at the end, so it’s worth noting.

4. Stone Coffin Fissure

Stone Coffin Fissure is an expansive dungeon in Cerulean Coast, at the southernmost point of the map. It’s not really interconnected, since you keep going down, but it’s huge—and there’s another great boss fight at the end, the Putrescent Knight. Past the boss, you’ll find St. Trina, an enigmatic character referenced throughout the base game. If you’re wondering whether you should Imbibe her Nectar, check out our guide.

5. Midra’s Manse

Midra’s Manse is another small Legacy Dungeon at the end of the Abyssal Woods. It’s tightly designed and interconnected, with a few shortcuts, and there’s another major boss at the end— Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame. He’s undoubtedly one of the best in the DLC.

Forts

F1. Fog Rift Fort

Fog Rift Fort is the small fort next to Castle Ensis. After beating Castle Ensis, head northwest until you’re on a hill above the fort. There’s an area where you can safely drop down a few ledges in the cliff face until you get to Fog Rift Fort. There’s an elite enemy at the end, Black Knight Garrew, that drops the Black Steel Greatshield.

F2. Fort of Reprimand

The Fort of Reprimand is another optional Fort in south Scadu Altus. It’s easy to reach if you head southeast down the main road after turning right from Castle Ensis. There’s an elite enemy at the end, Black Knight Edredd, that drops Ash of War: Aspect of the Crucible: Wings.

Gaols

G1. Belurat Gaol

Belurat Gaol is an optional dungeon in north Gravesite Plain. Head past the shallow lake and look for the cave entrance in the cliff face. The boss at the end, Demi-Humon Swordsman Yosh, is a hilarious monkey ninja who isn’t particularly challenging to beat. He drops his ashes upon defeat.

G2. Bonny Gaol

Bonny Gaol is another Gaol dungeon in Scadu Altus. To get here, drop down the hole in Moorth Ruins. You emerge in a new area below the main plateau leading to Shadow Keep. Bonny Gaol is south of the ruins of Bonny Village.

G3. Lamenter’s Gaol

The Lamenter’s Gaol is in the northwesternmost area of Charo’s Hidden Grave, which you reach by clearing the Dragon’s Pit cave-type mini-dungeon. It’s locked, though, and you have to grab the key by exploring the upper section.

Catacombs

C1. Fog Rift Catacombs

Fog Rift Catacombs is technically in Rauh Base, but you can access it from Gravesite Plain. Explore around the cliff edge northwest of Castle Ensis after crossing Ellac Greatbridge, and you’ll find a lowland grassy area with the Fog Rift Catacombs at the back.

C2. Darklight Catacombs

Darklight Catacombs is an enormous, dark catacomb in south Scadu Altus. You get here by heading south down Recluses’ River toward the shallow lake at the bottom. There’s another plateau you can drop down to with the entrance to Darklight Catacombs, and it leads to a whole new section of the map—the Abyssal Woods.

C3. Scorpion River Catacombs

Head west along Rauh Base and north of Temple Town Ruins until you reach a grassy region. In the far west, you’ll find the entrance to Scorpion River Catacombs. There’s another Death Knight boss at the end, and you can find the Knight’s Lightning Spear spell if you explore the dungeon.

Caves

V1. Dragon’s Pit

Dragon’s Pit is an important mini-dungeon as it leads to a whole new section of the map, including Jagged Peak. To find Dragon’s Pit, head toward the Suppressing Pillar in Gravesite Plain and look slightly northwest for a cave entrance.

V2. Rivermouth Cave

Rivermouth Cave might be the first cave-type dungeon you explore in Shadow of the Erdtree if you head directly north from the starting point. Drop down the gravestones on the northern cliff edge until you get to the bottom, and you’ll find the Rivermouth Cave entrance in the cliff face below.

Ruined Forges

O1. Ruined Forge Lava Intake

To get to the Ruined Forge Lava Intake, cross Ellac Greatbridge in Gravesite Plain and head southeast. It’s fairly easy to spot if you look for a stone structure with arches. Ruined Forges are a new type of dungeon in Shadow of the Erdtree. They’re fun to explore but don’t have bosses. Just watch out for the lava.

O2. Ruined Forge of Starfall Past

Ruined Forge of Starfall Past is in Scadu Altus. Find it southwest of Moorth Ruins along the road leading to the Fort of Reprimand. Again, the entrance to the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past is in a stone structure that should be easy to spot.

O3. Taylew’s Ruined Forge

Access Taylew’s Ruined Forge from Rauh Base. Drop down the hole in Moorth Ruins and cross the poison pools, then you’ll emerge in a grassy, lowland area. Head north, and you’ll find the entrance to Taylew’s Ruined Forge inside a stone structure.

Nameless Mausoleums

M1. Western Nameless Mausoleum

You might encounter the Western Nameless Mausoleum when you first start the expansion. It’s close to the starting area, in western Gravesite Plain, and the boss, the Blackgaol Knight, is a formidable threat for even the most experienced Elden Ring players.

M2. Southern Nameless Mausoleum

The Southern Nameless Mausoleum isn’t on the mainland—it’s on a small island near Cerulean Coast. To get there, head southeast from the Cerulean Coast West Site of Grace, then look for a cave entrance near a large tree.

M3. Eastern Nameless Mausoleum

To get to the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum, drop down the tombstones by Recluses’ River Downstream and follow the shallow river as it curves through a small ravine. The Eastern Nameless Mausoleum is somewhat hidden on the other side of the cliff.

M4. Northern Nameless Mausoleum

To get to the Northern Nameless Mausoleum, head to Rauh Base via the cave north of Moorth Ruins. Proceed southwest in the direction of Temple Town Ruins, and you’ll find a Sealed Spirit Spring by the southern cliff. Find the rubble pile to the west and break it, then jump up the Spirit Spring and you’ll find the Mausoleum at the very top of the plateau.
