We are quickly approaching the start of League of Legends‘ first big international event of the year. The 2019 Mid-Season Invitational begins on Wednesday, May 1, and the best teams the world has to offer right now will compete to see who is the strongest at the halfway point of the year.
The schedule for MSI is now up and ready for viewing on the LoL Esports website. A majority of the play-ins are set for the first four days of competition, and each group will play every other day. Day one will feature Group A with 1907 Fenerbahçe Esports, Bombers, Isurus Gaming, and Phong Vũ Buffalo. The following day will see Group B take the stage, featuring DetonatioN FocusMe, INTZ eSports, MEGA Esports, and Vega Squadron.
The schedule has also revealed that MSI’s Group Stage—starting on Friday, May 10—will kick off with a match between three-time Worlds champions SK Telecom T1, and Europe’s superteam, G2 Esports. That should be an explosive matchup that pits the LEC’s finest against the kings of the LCK.
Also, the fifth match of the first day will feature G2 Esports once again, but this time they will be facing off against the defending world champions, Invictus Gaming. G2 will look to get revenge for its elimination by iG back at Worlds 2018, where the Chinese powerhouse ended up sweeping the Europeans in the semifinals.
Finally, the highly-awaited matchup between Song “Rookie” Eui-jin and Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok will happen on Saturday, May 11, when SK Telecom T1 and Invictus Gaming clash for the first time since Rift Rivals 2018.
