During your adventure in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you will come across numerous locations to discover. Many of them will be full of perilous enemies, and a few won’t be easily accessible. Sometimes, you’ll have to knock down a ladder before going forward, and that is quite problematic at first.
Like in every open-world game, some areas in Dragon’s Dogma 2 require you to figure out how to access them. With different Vocations, items, and Abilities, it’s all but surprising to see the game being so diversified. One of the first such obstacles you will come across are ladders that aren’t knocked down, leading to a cave or some kind of treasure. To make things more difficult, you can’t climb up and bring them down on your own. Here’s how you can access a few of them.
How to drop ladders in Dragon’s Dogma 2
To drop ladders in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need help from a Pawn with the Springboard skill—the Levitate skill is also useful. You can also find alternate routes to reach the ladder or avoid using it entirely because they mostly act as shortcuts from other areas.
When a Pawn points out a ladder in the overworld, you can use the “Go” command to have them interact with the objective, A Warrior Pawn with Springboard will position themselves close to the ladder, allowing you to run toward them and allow them to launch you into the air toward the ladder. Sometimes that is not enough to reach it, though you can usually climb the rest of the way—just be careful before you launch.
If you have the Warrior Vocation, you can also use the Springboard skill to launch a Pawn to the ladder and have them kick it down for you and your party.
As for the Levitate skill, you can also use this yourself as a Mage or other magically inclined Vocation to lower the effects of gravity and jump higher or carry your forward momentum further. This allows you to reach places you otherwise wouldn’t be able to, which is great for knocking down ladders and reaching elevated chests. Some players have also mentioned using Ice Magic like Frigor to create stepping blocks is a good way to reach ladders.
Once you reach the ladder, you can knock it down, giving yourself a new shortcut and letting your Pawns join you.
How to get Warrior or Mage Pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2
We know that a Warrior Pawn can boost you up, so let’s break down how you can actually get one in your party. Warriors aren’t one of the four Vocations available at the start, so you’ll have to progress through the main story a bit and discover Vensworth. Once you do, you can head over to the city’s Riftstone and recruit a Warrior Pawn.
You can also unlock the Vocation yourself by completing one quest in the city, which will allow you or your Pawn to become a Warrior yourself.
This is the same method used to recruit Mage Pawns and unlock the Mage Vocation for yourself. You will probably want to use Levitate on your own, too, which means you will need to pick the Mage at the start or change your Vocation to it and then get to Rank 3 to unlock the skill.
Finding an alternate route to drop ladders in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Not every ladder you see in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is meant to be reached by using your Pawns or skills right away. Sometimes, these ladders are simply there to show you an eventual shortcut you can unlock after you progress to a later part of the game or explore other areas more.
A ladder is never the only path for you to take, meaning you can ignore your Pawns clamoring about seeing one and just continue on your way unless you want to drop it down for the next time you are in the area.
