It’s mega-successful, and Super Mario Wonder is the latest big-time success in the series. Special copies of the 2D platformer have been accompanied by the Mario Wonder Shadowbox. But how do you get one? More importantly, can you even get one?

What is the Super Mario Wonder Shadowbox?

The Super Mario Wonder Shadowbox is a rare collectible celebrating the newest iteration of Mario. It’s a foam box containing 3D, pop-out illustrations and designs pertaining to the game featuring playable characters from the title and even the new Wonder Flower.

The extremely limited nature of the item has made it a desirable piece of memorabilia. It’s no surprise then that rabid fans are desperately finding out how to get their hands on the Shadowbox.

How to get the Super Mario Wonder Shadowbox

The only known way to obtain the Super Mario Wonder Shadowbox is by buying the game in-store at Target.

Certain stores in the United States had tiny amounts of Shadowboxes to give away to physical customers purchasing their copies of Super Mario Wonder. You pretty much had to be the first people at these stores.

Can you still get the Super Mario Wonder Shadowbox?

It would appear that stock for the Super Mario Wonder Shadowbox has likely run out, meaning you can no longer procure the Shadowbox new.

Many people have reported that stock went almost instantly—highlighting just how few were made. Ultimately, the only way to get one now is likely through somewhere eBay and via a seller.

Interestingly, the My Nintendo Store has been selling a “Super Mario Bros. Wonder Mega Bundle.” In it, you get the game, as well as a very similar-looking diorama to the Shadowbox. The listing reads, “This product is currently limited to one per customer.”

Once again, I’d expect this to be another special edition collectible that will become very scarce super quickly.
