PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has finally done it. The popular battle royale game reached the summit of the Steam concurrent player mountain earlier today, surpassing Dota 2 to become the No. 1 game of all time.
Today, PUBG had as many as 1,349,584 players on the game. Dota 2’s previous record was 1,291,328 in March 2016. After months of climbing the list and passing games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Grand Theft Auto V, and Fallout 4, PUBG is now the king. It was just last week that PUBG cracked one million concurrent players, so the game has added no less than 200,000 to that number over the past eight days. A new update for PUBG this week saw a number of changes, including the addition of first-person leaderboards, new buildings to loot on the map, foggy weather conditions, and a new gun. With further updates planned before the game reaches full release later this year, PUBG’s record numbers should continue to grow for the foreseeable future. Winner winner, chicken dinner, indeed.
