Dynamax Blastoise is among the first to debut in Pokémon Go as a Dynamax Pokémon. Similar to the standard Blastoise, it can learn a handful of attacks. Teaching it the best attacks should make it a powerful ally against other Dynamax Pokémon, allowing you to catch some of the best ones out there. Here’s what you need to know about the best moveset for Dynamax Blastoise in Pokémon Go.

If you want a Dynamax Blastoise, track down a Power Spot with a Dynamax Squirtle as the raid boss. You can bring up to three other players to defeat it and catch this Pokémon, so long as you have enough Max Particles. After catching the Squirtle, evolve it into a Blastoise, and it can Dynamax. The best moveset to teach your Dynamax Blastoise is the fast move Water Gun and the charged moves Hydro Cannon and Ice Beam in Pokémon Go.

Like the standard Blastoise, the Dynamax Blastoise also benefits from having Water Gun as its fast move. Water Gun is one of the better choices for Water-type Pokémon. The alternative attack Blastoise could learn is Bite, and while it is a decent Dark-type move, it’s not the best option. Blastoise benefits far more from having Water Gun in its moveset, generating enough energy to empower its charged moves.

You can teach Dynamax Blastoise several charged moves, which are the strongest attacks it can use during a fight. These are all the charged moves available to Blastoise in Pokémon Go.

  • Flash Cannon (Steel-type)
  • Hydro Cannon (Water-type)
  • Hydro Pump (Water-type)
  • Ice Beam (Ice-type)
  • Return (Normal-type)
  • Skull Bash (Normal-type)

The best charged moves Blastoise can learn are Hydro Cannon and Ice Beam, but they’re the best choices for Dynamax Blastoise for different reasons. In Dynamax form, Blastoise’s charged moves become Max Moves, and they become more potent forms of these attacks but retain their specific type. Ensuring Blastoise can use Water and Ice-type charged moves gives it two distinct Max Moves during a Dynamax Battle. You could teach it Flash Cannon, but given the limited choices of Dynamax opponents, Hydro Cannon and Ice Beam remain the best options.

Is Dynamax Blastoise good in Pokémon Go?

You can use Dynamax Blastoise in the same activities as a standard Blastoise. The only difference is you want to reserve your Dynamax Blastoise to use at Power Spots, catching more Dynamax Pokémon. It’s a solid choice and a great Water-type Pokémon when fighting Fire, Ground, or Rock types in Pokémon Go. Blastoise is not at the top of the charts in many Pokémon Go competitions, but it’s a great option to have in your lineup.
