Pokémon Go Mega Rayquaza Aug. 3 Special Raid make up event guide

Make up time.

Due to a technical issue during June’s Mega Rayquazza Elite Raid event in Pokémon Go, Niantic has scheduled a makeup event to give trainers another chance to find and catch the Hoenn Legendary Pokémon.

Unlike the previous event, this one won’t require you to participate in local-only Elite Raids; instead, anyone can face off against Mega Rayquaza anywhere in the world using Remote Raid Passes.

With so much to look forward to, it’s worth keeping tabs on when and how you can take on this Legendary Pokémon, and if you are lucky, maybe snag yourself a Shiny version.

The Pokémon Go make-up Mega Rayquaza event begins Aug. 3. The Pokémon can spawn three times throughout the day, at 11am, 1pm, and 6pm local time, with the Raid sticking around for under 30 minutes before disappearing.

There will be free limited Timed Research to give trainers a Meteorite, an item needed to make any Rayquaza Mega Evolve in-game. When you use a Meteorite on a Rayquaza, it learns the move Dragon Ascent, which is needed for Mega Evolve. Trainers can also use up to 20 Remote Raid Passes over the day, up from the usual five.

Equally, Mega Rayquaza can be Shiny. So, if you’re lucky, you might come across a strong black dragon to add to your arsenal.
