Name and claim: Pokémon Owner’s cards returning to TCG again next year

Guess who's back.

The 2024 Pokémon World Championships has been a rollercoaster of hype, and it became infinitely better during the closing ceremony where it was revealed Pokémon Owner’s cards would be returning in the Trading Card Game next year.

There were many exciting reveals during the Aug. 18 Pokémon Worlds ending ceremony, not least the Pokémon Pocket release date. But the return of the nostalgic Pokémon Owner cards in 2025 is one that has fans the most excited, especially with the first of the newly revealed cards centering around trainers like Lillie, N, and Marnie.

There weren’t a whole heap of new cards shown during the Pokémon TCG reveal video, but it’s quality over quantity. Here were the unveiled entries:

  • Lillie’s Clefairy EX
  • Marnie’s Grimmsnarl EX
  • N’s Zoroark EX
  • N’s Reshiram

These cards are still in development, so it’s possible the final versions will be different from what was shown during the Worlds ending ceremony. But it gives us a good glimpse into what kinds of Owner cards we can expect next year either way.

TCG players are already excited for the nostalgic return of player cards, with many commenting on the reveal video that it’s “the best announcement of the day” and that “Pokémon [will] take my money for these new cards.”

The best part of this reveal is the “R” at the end of the video, which hints that we might also see Team Rocket Trainer cards back in the series again after a long time away. As a big fan of the Poké villains, here’s hoping we’ll get new Team Rocket cards like Jessie’s Arbok and Wobbuffet and James’s Mime Jr. and Weezing.
