You want to get more Max Balls to catch Dynamax Pokémon.

When attempting to catch Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go, you’ll use Max Balls against them at a Power Spot. You receive a set amount after you defeat a Dynamax Pokémon, but there’s a way for you to get more if you want to make sure you catch it.

Max Balls can be costly. You only have one opportunity to grab them before you complete a Dynamax Battle, and you’ll want to be quick to decide. Not only do you receive a few more Max Balls, but you also get additional rewards. Here’s what you need to know about how to get more Max Balls for Dynamax Battles in Pokémon Go.

You can receive more Max Balls immediately after you complete a Dynamax Battle, while you’re on the rewards page in Pokémon Go. On the bottom, there’s an option to purchase additional rewards, which include more Max Balls to use when you attempt to catch the Dynamax Pokémon. When you complete a battle, you should receive at least 10 Max Balls, commonly called Premier Balls, when you try to catch the Pokémon. If you choose to get the additional rewards, you’ll receive 10 more, increasing your chance to catch the Dynamax Pokémon.

The additional reward costs 200 Poké Coins. If you don’t have the Poké Coins, you won’t be able to receive the increased rewards. For some Pokémon players, this might be too much, as Poké Coins are the premium currency of the mobile game. You can get Poké Coins in Pokémon Go by buying them from the mobile store using real-world money, or you can get them by leaving Pokémon at Gyms and holding them for a set amount of time. You can earn 50 Poké Coins every day without having to buy them.

Are these rewards worth it? That’s up to you. Not only do you receive the Max Balls, but you’ll also receive double the rewards for what you acquired. For example, when I completed my Dynamax Battle against a Charmander, I received 10,000 XP, a Rare Candy, a Revive, and the 10 Max Balls. Spending 200 Poké Coins for additional rewards essentially doubles them. If you battle against an adamant Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go, it might be worth grabbing these rewards to ensure you catch the Pokémon. A smaller one like Charmander likely doesn’t warrant these increased rewards for Poké Coins.

You can only decide immediately after completing a Dynamax Battle at a Power Spot in Pokémon Go. Thankfully, you’ll be able to see everything you get if you want to spend the 200 Poké Coins.
