This guide covers all Pokémon Go Legendary Heroes Timed Research tasks and rewards for the Sword and Shield paths.

This Timed Research is accessible to all Pokémon Go players. It appears at the start of the Legendary Heroes event, and you have to choose between the Sword and Shield path. Depending on your choice, some Pokémon show up when you place Incense on your character. There’s also a unique Collection Challenge that appears for Pokémon you need to track down, and many of them have to do with using Incense.

If you choose the Shield Path during the Legendary Heroes event, expect to see Larvitar, Lotad, Croagunk, Solosis, Spritzee, and Oranguru spawning when you use Incense. These Pokémon all have the chance to appear in their Shiny forms.

For those who go with the Sword Path during the Legendary Heroes event, Seedot, Scraggy, Gothita, Deino, Swirlix, and Passimian have a chance to spawn when you use Incense. All of these Pokémon also have a chance to appear in their Shiny forms. Between the two versions, we do recommend the Sword Path over the Shield Path, purely because Deino has a high chance to spawn, but Larvitar is a strong choice for the Shield Path. The Paths are close enough that it likely comes down to your preference between those two Pokémon.
