Marvel Rivals now offers a skin customization feature, so you can finally make those outfits perfectly match your flair.
Introduced with the April 17 patch, skin customization lets you splash new color combos onto existing Marvel Rivals skins. For example, if you’ve got Bucky’s Blood Soldier costume and want to make him look a little less old and bloody, the new Winter’s Wrath color combo gives him a head full of brown hair and an elegant blue-and-silver uniform.

How to use skin customization in Marvel Rivals
Skin customization lets you purchase and apply a color variant to a Marvel Rivals hero costume you already own. Selecting a new combo changes the costume color across menus and matches, and affects the MVP animation too. Here’s how to access the feature:
- From the lobby, select the Heroes tab.
- Select the hero and then go to the Costumes tab.
- Here, select the costume you want to edit and then select the Customize button.
- Now, select from the available color combos you want to apply to the skin.
- Once you do, the skin will start reflecting the new color combo. You can change back to the default anytime from the Costumes tab.

At the time of writing, skin customization is only available for select Marvel Rivals costumes, and there’s only one color combo for each of them. Here are the eligible skins and color combos as of the April 17 patch.
Skin name | Available color combo |
---|---|
Psylocke’s Vengeance | Phantom Purple |
Luna Snow’s Mirae 2099 | Plasma Pulse |
Winter Soldier’s Blood Soldier | Winter’s Wrath |
Magik’s Punkchild | Rosy Resilience |
More skins will be added to the eligible list for skin customization in the future. You’ll also get new color combo options to apply to costumes. That said, you can’t edit these combos. You can’t choose your own colors to truly reflect your style.
How much does it cost to customize skins in Marvel Rivals?
Skin customization is, unfortunately, not free. To acquire a new combo, you have to pay up in Unstable Molecules, a new currency for skin recolors in Marvel Rivals. Each color combo costs 600 Unstable Molecules. You can exchange Lattice for Unstable Molecules at a 1:1 ratio. There’s no other way to get this currency at the time of writing.
NetEase has indicated a plan to add new ways to acquire Unstable Molecules in season three. So, you may be able to earn this currency by completing missions like we do for Units or via the battle pass in the future. But the next season is a long way off, with season two just starting. Until then, you’ll have to use Lattice, which you can purchase from the Store.
