As of season two’s first phase, Marvel Rivals hosts 38 heroes, but only a few of them have the potent X-gene factor. Leaks suggest that several iconic mutants like Deadpool and Cyclops are set to join the roster in upcoming seasons. If you’re looking for a list of current mutants in Marvel Rivals, we’ve got you covered.

As of April 2025, here’s a list of playable mutant heroes in Marvel Rivals:

  1. Wolverine
  2. Magik
  3. Psylocke
  4. Magneto
  5. Namor
  6. Storm
  7. Emma Frost

Now, this list may confuse some of us as Scarlet Witch, Cloak & Dagger, and Jeff The Land Shark have also been associated with the X-gene in certain lore instances. In fact, Scarlet Witch has been referred to as Magneto’s daughter, which explains why many may consider her a mutant, too.

Well, despite their connections to the mutant world, most hardcore comic book and lore fans would agree that Scarlet Witch, Cloak, Dagger, and Jeff can’t be considered “actual” mutants. So, as far as your favorite hero shooter game is concerned, it’s just seven mutant characters as of now.

Is Emma Frost a mutant in Marvel Rivals? Cerebro Database mission glitch, explained

If you’ve just poured your heart into hitting 10,000 damage with Emma Frost for one of the latest Cerebro Database event challenges in Marvel Rivals—only to be denied the red exclamation mark on the mission card—you’re not alone.

One of the missions under the fourth phase of the Cerebro Database event needs players to score 10,000 damage with any mutant in a Competitive, Quick Match, or Practice vs. AI match. Weirdly, though, it turns out you can’t complete the challenge with the White Queen.

Emma Frost is definitely a mutant in the Marvel universe, and it should be the same in Marvel Rivals, too. But according to reports, Frost’s character data isn’t reflecting her true origin for now—likely due to a glitch that requires the developer’s attention. So, if you’re in a hurry to earn the free Mantis skin out of the Cerebro Database event and want to complete the mutant damage challenge, don’t pick Frost.

Go for Namor, Psylocke, Storm, or Magik as it’s easier to score a bunch of damage with Duelist heroes. Magneto counts toward this mission too, but keep in mind he’s a Vanguard with limited firepower.
