T1 have officially halted one of the most dominant runs in recent League of Legends history, taking down Gen.G 2-1 in a thrilling series, ending a 27-match win streak that felt untouchable.
Fresh off their run at the Esports World Cup 2025, T1 returned to Korea for the third round of the League Champions Korea (LCK), and waiting for them was none other than Gen.G.
Gen.G lost a few series during the LCK Cup 2025, but after regaining their form, they went on an undefeated run without dropping another series. The pattern looked set to continue after Faker and his squad dropped the first game of the series on blue side. Canyon’s Wukong ran rampant, racking up 12 kills and setting the pace for what looked like another dominant Gen.G win. But just as fans braced for another painful repeat, T1 flipped the script.
Game two saw T1’s bot lane lock in the iconic Xayah and Rakan combo, while Faker turned to his signature Azir to gradually snowball the game away from Gen.G. In the deciding match, T1 switched to the red side and once again, the bot lane reigned supreme with their iconic 2022 Aphelios-Thresh combination. They set the tempo from the very first kill, dominating Gen.G and closing out the series in style to give them their first loss of the season.
Keria earned the MVP of the series with a staggering 38 assists, showcasing his impact on engage supports like Rakan and Thresh. His playmaking paved the way for T1 to dominate the series.
They also broke an incredible 27-match win streak in the process. Although Gen. G still holds the longest win streak in LCK, 29 matches long in 2024 between the Spring and Summer Split, T1 were the first team in LCK history to complete a perfect Split in 2022.
T1’s star ADC, Gumayusi, made his intentions clear: he wanted “revenge” to balance the scales after the recent losses.
T1 must maintain their form for the rest of the year to chase the two remaining titles, including Worlds 2025, where they have the chance to become the first team in League history to win three consecutive World Championships.
As for Gen.G, they’ve already qualified for Worlds 2025 with their last win in LCK, but they’ll need to keep their form intact if they want to secure the most important international trophy of the year.
