The Strange Gem makes its return in PEAK’s Mesa update, and if you’re eager to get your hands on it, you’ll need to make your way high into the mountains. Your journey starts by climbing toward the summit, keeping an eye out for a unique statue tucked away near the back side of the peak. This isn’t just any piece of scenery; the statue is your key to finding the Gem.

As you approach, you’ll spot the Strange Gem resting right in the statue’s hands. Its bright, radiant glow makes it nearly impossible to miss, even from a distance, so you’ll know you’re in the right place the moment you see it. To claim it, walk up and interact with the statue as you would when picking up any other item.

What is the Strange Gem used for in PEAK?

As of the Mesa update (August 2025), the Strange Gem remains purely a collectible item in PEAK, with no confirmed functional or hidden purpose in standard gameplay. You can safely pick it up, carry it around, or even toss it without worrying about unexpected effects, unlike explosive items like dynamite. The Gem can be thrown like a Frisbee for fun, but it won’t blow up, reveal hidden passages, or trigger any events if you hurl it off a cliff or into specific areas.

That said, you’ll want to be careful. If the Gem falls off the map, it’s gone for the rest of your run. There’s currently no evidence that it respawns or unlocks any achievements if lost. Several tests have also been carried out by players for possible secret uses like throwing it into caves, dropping it in water, or placing it on suspicious-looking platforms, but so far, no special interactions, Easter eggs, or rewards have been confirmed.

In earlier PEAK updates, the statue holding the Gem sometimes featured different objects, so this iteration may serve as a fun collectible or a hint at future content. Until proven otherwise, think of the Strange Gem as a flashy souvenir rather than a game-changing tool.
