How to unlock Chef in Risk of Rain 2

The Chef is one of two new survivors added in Risk of Rain 2’s Seekers of the Storm expansion, and like with other survivors, finding him is pretty convoluted.

Through specific items and methods, you can add the Chef to your roster in less than 10 minutes if you know what you are doing and if RNG is on your side. So let’s give you a hand.

How to complete the Wok’s Recipe in the Reformed Altar in Risk of Rain 2

So long as you have installed the Risk of Rain 2 Seekers of the Storm expansion, you first need to look out for a particular green rod that can usually be found in the first stage of any run.

It’s called a Halycon Shrine, and activating it will slowly spawn enemies and drain any gold you have on you. After 200 gold, the shrine should pawn a mini-boss you must defeat to pawn a Green Portal that’ll take you to a secret section only available through the new DLC.

Before all that, you must find three items to unlock the Chef. This includes Bion teak, Cautiou lug, and Infusion. Without these three items, you can’t get Chef no matter what you do. There’s an easy way to get the item, though. You can manually choose the items by activating the Artifact of Command instead of relying on RNG.

Once you go through the Portal, you’ll encounter a new stage called the Reformed Altar. There’s a side path beside the central structure with the Chef waiting in front of three slabs.

Depositing the previously mentioned items into these slabs unlocks the Chef, and you can play him on your next run.
