Genshin Impact’s 5.0 update has unveiled Natlan, better known as the nation of war, and a slew of new characters. On top of these additions, the developers have reworked many of the game’s older systems, including how players obtain Artifacts.
Players can now collect a currency named Sanctifying Elixir, which can be used to craft Artifacts with specific stats. Here’s everything you need to know about collecting and using Sanctifying Elixir in Genshin Impact.
How to collect Sanctifying Elixir in Genshin Impact
The best way to collect Sanctifying Elixir is by using the new Artifact Transmuter gadget, which is unlocked in the Adventurer’s Handbook after leveling up 25 different five-star artifacts.
The Artifact Transmuter absorbs upgraded five-star Artifacts, destroying them and converting the Artifact EXP into gadget levels. The level of a deposited five-star Artifact will directly influence the gadget’s level, but you can only deposit five-star Artifacts that are at least level four. E.g., if you deposit a level 20 Artifact into the gadget, the Artifact Transmuter will gain 20 levels. Once the Artifact Transmuter reaches level 100, you’ll receive one Sanctifying Elixir.
Unfortunately, Genshin’s devs don’t want players to craft too many Artifacts, so you can only receive one Sanctifying Elixir from the Artifact Transmuter per update. This means you’ll only be able to craft roughly one Sanctifying Elixir per month.
You can also collect Sanctifying Elixir by buying the battle pass and a small amount can be found by exploring Natlan. Occasionally, Genshin hosts limited-time events that may offer Sanctifying Elixir as a reward, such as the anniversary.
How to craft Artifacts using Sanctifying Elixir in Genshin Impact
When you’re ready to craft a Genshin artifact, open the Artifact Transmuter and select which Artifact set and type you want to create. From this screen, affix a main stat to your Artifact, unless you are crafting a Flower or Plume.
You can also affix two substats when crafting an artifact, which should almost always be Crit DMG and Crit Rate. Not every character scales with the same damage types, so the stats you need may vary between different units. If you are confused about what stats to affix, we suggest looking up build guides before crafting an Artifact.
The Sanctifying Elixir needed to craft an Artifact varies depending on the Artifact Type. Here’s a breakdown of how much each requires:
Artifact Type | Required Sanctifying Elixir |
Flower | One Elixir |
Plume | One Elixir |
Sands | Two Elixirs |
Goblet | Four Elixirs |
Circlet | Three Elixirs |
You should save your Sanctifying Elixirs and use them to only craft Goblets; they’re extremely difficult and time-consuming to obtain. Goblets also have the largest pool of main stats, making the chances of obtaining a specific elemental goblet from RNG farming incredibly rare.
Once you craft an Artifact, it will be added to your inventory and must be leveled like all other Artifacts. Even though you crafted the Artifact, there’s no guarantee the specific substats you affixed will be increased with levels.
