Genshin Impact players are (oddly) hating on 5.0’s quality of life improvements

This isn't something you see every day.

Genshin Impact 5.0 is without a doubt the biggest update so far, but even with a new major region and a ton of quality-of-life improvements, some players are simply furious with the new update.

A TikTok video by hiranoos, posted on Aug. 16, shows Kazuha jumping off a cliff to his demise. The text over the footage says: “How it feels, knowing I can customize artifacts now,” suggesting the player dislikes the new quality-of-life improvements in Genshin Impact because they undermine their hard work.

While Genshin Impact version 5.0 brought us Natlan alongside new Archon and world quests to enjoy, the version also includes a bunch of quality-of-life changes.

Genshin’s endless Artifact grind has always been tedious; getting your desired piece with a proper main stat and good substats was nearly impossible for most players. The new quality-of-life change allows everyone to choose one main stat and a couple of substats for their Artifacts, and some Genshin veterans are frustrated, because it means newer players get to avoid the painful grind they had to endure.

“These new gens will never understand what I went through to get my Xiao artifacts,” one of the top comments says, which at the time of writing has more than 13,500 likes. Quality-of-life improvements usually enhance the game, but this one is annoying older players who spent a lot of time farming for their Artifacts and building their characters.

As a Genshin veteran myself, I know many players who feel like their hard work was for nothing. Perhaps this quality-of-life update should’ve come sooner?
