Palia has plenty for you to explore and upgrade, be it home improvements, relationships, or skills. Upgrading your tools in Palia is a necessary step in making the most of what the game has to offer.

How to upgrade tools in Palia

The tools you will be using in Palia are axes, picks, hoes, watering cans, fishing rods, bows, and belts. Tools have four tiers: Makeshift, Standard, Fine, and Exquisite.

Players get the Makeshift version of each tool at the start of the game. You will always need the Makeshift tools on you whenever it’s time to upgrade because they’re a necessary part of the upgrade recipe.

You need to upgrade each tool type at their corresponding guilds:

• Axes – Foraging Guild Store
• Picks – Mining Guild Store
• Hoes – Gardening Guild Store
• Watering Cans – Gardening Guild Store
• Rods – Fishing Guild Store
• Bows – Hunting Guild Store
• Belts – Bug Catching Guild Store

You’ll be acquiring each tool recipe once you’ve reached a certain skill level. We’ll now cover what recipe, ingredients, and requirements are needed for you to make each tool at these specific levels. These do not include the starter tools because they will be in your inventory once you’ve completed the tutorial.

Standard Tools

The Standard versions of axes, picks, hoes, watering cans, fishing rods, bows, and belts require the following:

• Makeshift Tool
• 20 Sapwood Plank
• 5 Copper Bar

You’ll need Skill Level 3 to forge these tools. Every Standard tool recipe is priced at 200 Gold, except for the Standard Hoe, which is priced at 250 Gold.

Fine Tools

The Fine versions of axes, picks, hoes, watering cans, fishing rods, bows, and belts require the following:

• Standard Tool
• 10 Heartwood Plank
• 5 Iron Bar

You’ll need Skill Level 6 to forge these tools. Every Fine tool recipe is priced at 1,500 Gold.

Exquisite Tools

The Exquisite versions of axes, picks, hoes, watering cans, fishing rods, bows, and belts require the following:

• Fine Tool
• 5 Flow-Infused Plank
• 2 Palium Bar

You’ll need Skill Level 9 to forge these tools. Every Exquisite tool recipe is priced at 3,000 Gold.

After you’ve acquired the necessary ingredients, skill level, and funds to make the recipe purchase, you’ll be making the tools at your Worktable. This should be available at your home area because you’ve already set it up during the tutorial, after you’ve completed the Welcome to Palia introductory quest.
