Sony finally gave PS4 players the option to play against, or alongside, Switch and Xbox One users today when it launched an open beta for cross-platform play. Fortnite is the first game to access the feature, with more unannounced third-party games having trials in the future.
By linking your different systems to your Epic Games account, you’ll be able to play Fortnite on your PS4 and Xbox One or take it on the go with you on Nintendo Switch without losing any of your purchases or saved data.
But how do you link all your accounts together? And what do you do if you don’t have an Epic account? Well, that is where we come in.
Here, we have listed all the steps you should take to link your accounts up, so you are well prepared for season six when it drops in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
What to do if you don’t own an Epic account
You’ll first need to sync your Fortnite progress, either on Switch, PS4, or Xbox One, to an Epic account so you can carry your purchases and other progress over to another system.
To do this, you’ll need to head on over to Epic Games’ Fortnite website and hit the login button on the top right of the page. You’ll then be asked if you already play Fortnite—so click yes.
Next, you need to pick the system you’ve been playing on the most. If you’ve been playing the game on multiple systems then there is no way to combine accounts at this time, so choose the progress you are most fond of. So if you play on PS4 the most, click the PS4 icon. A new page should then load up asking you to sign into your console’s online account.
After doing so, you’ll then need to create an Epic Account by filling out the form that pops up. Once finished, you’ll be prompted to validate the account through your email address.
How to link each system to your Epic account
After creating an account, or if you already own an Epic account, adding multiple systems to it is a piece of cake.
You’ll need to go to Epic Games’ Fortnite website and login. You’ll then have to click the “Account” option at the top right of the website.
Click “Connected Accounts” and then scroll down to each different system. Click “Connect” and it’ll ask you to sign into your Xbox, PS4, or Switch account to pair all the different consoles together.
If everything works out, all your systems should be linked together and you should be able to start playing Fortnite at home, or on the go, with ease next time you login.
