Fortnite: Battle Royale players who play in the competitive Arena Mode today have noticed that they were getting 25 total health or shield per kill instead of the usual 50. This was an unexpected change caused by a bug, so it was missing from the v8.30 patch notes.
This bug to this siphon mechanic comes to Arena over two weeks after Epic Games removed it entirely from non-competitive game modes, such as Solo, Duos, Squads, and Limited Time Modes, in the v8.20 update. Other features like increased harvest rate and getting 50 of each material per kill were not affected.

Pros have been begging for Epic to revert the changes of v8.20 and bring back siphon to all modes, just like it had been since the v7.40 update. Some say all game modes have become boring since they spend a lot of time harvesting and aggression is easily punished. When Epic removed the mechanic, decreasing the power of aggressive plays was exactly what the company intended to achieve, and it seems to have worked.
Epic’s fixing the issue of 25 health per elimination instead of 50 means that it won’t affect the Fortnite World Cup Open Qualifiers this weekend. The bug wasn’t related to the Reboot Vans and the possibility of eliminating more players every match in Duos now, as we first guessed.
