SNK has revealed the final fighter on the Season Pass 1 roster of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves: it’s Mr. Big from Art of Fighting.
He drops on Dec. 9, 2025, wrapping up the DLC run that has added Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Ken Masters, and Chun-Li to the game’s already stacked cast.
It’s important to note that you don’t have to pay for him separately. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves only exists as a $59.99 Special Edition, which bundles the entirety of Season Pass 1. SNK is very explicit that there are no plans to sell the base game cheaper, while adding à la carte prices for the DLC characters.
In practice, this means:
- If you own the game, you already own Mr. Big, as well as Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Ken, and Chun-Li. He’s effectively “free” DLC that’s unlocked on release.
- If you don’t own the game, your buy-in price is still $59.99 with the game’s Special Edition, but it’s worth noting that CotW has already had 60% sales.
While there’s no nickel-and-diming going on, there’s also no cheaper option to get into the game aside from waiting for a sale.
Who’s Mr. Big, and why is he being added now?
Mr. Big was the original boss of Art of Fighting, quite literally an OG in the SNK universe. He hasn’t been playable since King of Fighters ‘98 UM and KOF XI. Bringing him back in 2025 ties City of the Wolves not just to classic Fatal Fury and Garou, but to Art of Fighting, reinforcing that shared SNK universe.
He also balances out a guest-heavy Season Pass 1 roster, especially coming after the releases of Ken Masters and Chun-Li from Street Fighter. Obviously, he won’t make as big a splash as they, but the core SNK fans will be pleased nevertheless. Chun-Li specifically made waves for her iconic intro with Mai Shiranui.

But despite the comparative lack of hype, SNK is treating Mr. Big like a genuine headliner, as he’s the biggest threat to taking over South Town. City of the Wolves also finally confirms what Garou: Mark of the Wolves only hinted at: Marie Heinlein, Rock’s sickly mother and Kain’s sister, is alive, and she’s Mr. Big’s hostage.
Mr. Big started life as the boss of the original Art of Fighting back in 1992: a sadistic crime lord and Geese’s constant frienemy, who ran South Town rackets, kidnapped Yuri Sakazaki, and acted as the gatekeeper to the true power behind the city. He’s popped up over the years in King of Fighters entries as a playable legacy villain, but City of the Wolves is his first actual step into the Fatal Fury side of South Town’s story.

Years seem to have mellowed him out somehow. While Marie is quite explicitly his hostage, he’s nothing but cordial to the woman and tries his best to provide her with all the comforts and calm her worries. This side of him will be explored in the Episodes of South Town mode, while Arcade will still focus on the main storyline, where he has a goal of securing certain evidence.
On the gameplay side, SNK is leaning quite heavily into what made him iconic without explicitly copy-pasting his entire moveset. The trailer already shows his long-reaching normals and space-control specials, and they look to fit well into City of the Wolves’ REV-based offense. If anything, he was what the game needed, with CotW’s quite heavy rushdown character dominance.

From a broader perspective, SNK did all the right moves with this character DLC wave. It was bundled with the game at no additional cost (even though some may argue that the base roster of 17 was a bit small to release the game with), the following fighters are a healthy mix of SNK staples and super exciting guests, and then it’s all capped off with what the core SNK fans wanted: an iconic legacy character that ties into the game well both story- and gameplay-wise.
The question we now have is: how much will the Season Pass 2 cost?
