How to find and catch Jetragon in Palworld

Catch this legendary Pal for your party.

Palworld features a few legendary Pals, but capturing them can be exceptionally tricky. Jetragon is a legendary dragon of the fiery lava and a challenging boss in its own right. Here’s how to find and catch Jetragon in Palworld.

The only way to catch Jetragon in Palworld is by traveling to its marked boss location at Mount Obsidian and battling it head-to-head. As a legendary Dragon-type Pal, the fight will be a tough one, but that doesn’t mean Jetragon is without its weaknesses. Ice-type Pals are excellent options due to Palworld’s type chart.

Of course, the first thing I think of when Ice-type comes up is Frostallion. What’s better for fighting a Legendary Pal than another Legendary that serves as the ideal counter in terms of type? However, you might not have Frostallion yet, and that’s completely fine. After all, the “use one Legendary to catch another” strategy always seems to me like something of a copout.

So, if not Frostallion, what? The answer is actually pretty straightforward: Use Chillet. This is a more-than-decent Ice-type Pal, and you can get the Alpha already from level 11, so there’s nothing stopping you from catching it relatively early on.

Jetragon is a Legendary Dragon-type Pal and can be found on the volcanic region of the map at Level 50. It’s described in-game as “Can be ridden as a flying mount. Can rapidly fire a missile launcher while mounted.”

Exact Jetragon Palworld location

Jetragon is located at Mount Obsidian in the southwestern Volcano region (check the yellow markers on the image above to see its precise location). Mount Obsidian has an extremely hot atmosphere, so you’ll need heat-resistant armor to survive in this area.

The closest fast travel point near Jetragon’s spawn is the Beach of Everlasting Summer. Unlock the fast travel first to easily go to and from your base, just in case you fail in your initial attempt at taking down this legendary boss.

The best Pals for fighting Jetragon are Wumpo and Frostallion, because Ice-type Pals are direct counters to Dragon types and these Pals will have a variety of Ice skills that will land for extra damage.

When trying to catch Jetragon, your best option is to shoot the boss from a distance. Use an Assault Rifle (unlocks at Technology Level 45) and craft a ton of Assault Rifle Ammo, as you’ll need plenty of it to take down powerful bosses. The Assault Rifle is the best weapon to use from a distance as long as you connect headshots. Get on top of a vantage point and fire a few shots at the boss to lure it away from the spawn area. Repeat this process a few times to weaken the boss before jumping into the fight with your Pal.

Additionally, to catch a powerful Pal like Jetragon, I recommend using a Legendary Sphere. This item unlocks once you reach Technology Level 44. After reaching level 50, the boss fights become tougher as you’ll encounter two bosses at spawn locations instead of one. My suggestion is to level up your strongest Pals and craft the best gear available before approaching boss fights at higher levels.

Can you ride Jetragon in Palworld?

Yes, you can ride and fly on Jetragon in Palworld, and I’ve found this is the fastest flying mount in the game. To do this, you must craft Jetragon’s Missile Launcher from the Pal Gear Workbench.

The resources required for Jetragon’s Missile Launcher are:

  • 100 Leather
  • 200 Refined Ingot
  • 50 Circuits
  • 140 Paldium Fragments

This legendary saddle allows you to mount and fly around with Jetragon. Additionally, you can fire missiles while riding on Jetragon’s back. The crafting schematic for Jetragon’s Missile Launcher unlocks at Technology Level 50, so level up quickly if you want to hitch a ride.

Can you get Jetragon through breeding combos?

Unfortunately, you cannot obtain a Jetragon through breeding combinations that do not involve a Jetragon already. So if you’re hoping for a nice workaround method on getting your hands on the fastest flyer in the game, you’re out of luck.

Simply put, the only way to breed a Jetragon is—using two Jetragons! That being said, once you get your hands on the future mama and poppa Jetragon, it will be much easier to breed new Pals of this type than go around Palpagos combatting them all over again!

How to get breed Jetragon

The breeding system in Palworld allows Pals to mate to get new eggs. I tried this with a couple of Jetragons, and it worked perfectly. To start the process, build a Breeding Pen at your base. Now, you only need to capture a couple of Jetragons (one male, one female) and assign them to the Breeding Pen.

Prepare some Cake beforehand as it is a necessary ingredient for breeding. Add the Cake to the Breeding Pen box and assign your Pals manually to start the process. Keep in mind this can take a while, so I recommend focusing on other tasks while the Pals are hatching. Build an Egg Incubator if you don’t have one in your base, as it is necessary for the hatching process.

Once the breeding is complete, you’ll get a clutch of Huge Dragon Eggs in the Breeding Pen—usually four. Pick them up and interact with the Egg Incubator. You’ll be rewarded with a newborn level one Jetragon having Passive Skills similar to their parents. Best of all, you can combine your new Jetragons with their ideal partners to get some mighty new Pals.
