How to find and tame Crocodiles in Once Human

Building an army of capable animals to fight at your side in Once Human is a legitimate strategy to progress through the game. One animal you can call to your side is the mighty Crocodile, but before you tame it, you’ll need to find it somewhere in the world.

Crocodiles are tricky to track down while exploring Once Human. Similar to bears, they don’t always appear in the same spot, and you’ll need to do some trekking to find them, and once you do, you need to complete a few other steps before attempting to tame one. Here’s what you need to know about where to find Crocodiles and how to tame them in Once Human.

Where to find Crocodile locations in Once Human

There is a reliable Crocodile location you can find in Once Human, but you do need to put some work into the main story before this area unlocks. You can find Crocodiles by exploring the rivers, namely the ones in Chalk Peak. These are in the same regions where you can also find bears, but on the opposite side. Rather than going northwest of the Monolith of Thirst, make your way to the southwest, close to the coastline. There are several rivers and coastlines where these creatures wander around. Although they are tamable, they are still dangerous.

You want to be careful when approaching Crocodiles. When attempting to tame them, I encountered several corrupted Crocodiles, which you cannot tame in Once Human. They are too far gone and stronger than the original ones. You’ll want to look out for them when trying to find one. These creatures should be around level 35.

How to tame Crocodiles in Once Human

When it comes to taming a Crocodile, there are a few requirements you need to unlock. You need to go to the Logistics tree in your Memetics menu and unlock Animal Handling and Animal Taming. These are on the same list, and each requires you to spend seven Cipher Points and 2,000 Energy links. After you have these unlocked, the Throwable Tranquilizer Dart is now available to make at your base. These are vital for you to make when attempting to capture a Crocodile in Once Human.

When fighting a Crocodile, there’s a small line in their health bar indicating how low you need to get them before you can use the tranquilizer on them. When you capture the creature, you can examine its stats to see if it’s a good fit for you—or if you need to find another one in Once Human.
