It’s been over a month since the League of Legends community chose Little Demon Tristana as the next skin for Bandle City’s Yordle Gunner, and Riot Games has returned to give a four-week update on the progress of the skin’s development process.
The previous update revealed four possibilities for the skin’s splash art and the creative direction the development team looked to take with the concept.
Riot then tested out Little Demon Tristana’s first model, or proxy, by “frankensteining” pieces of other character or skin models together—Demon Vi’s horns, Omega Squad Tristana’s gun, and Little Devil Teemo’s wings and tail all make up the first version of Little Demon Tristana.
Once the proxy was created, the League of Legends developer began sculpting the character in 3D and optimizing the model to fit into the game’s graphics. The model then needed to be rigged to help its movements look soft and fluid as the character roams about Summoner’s Rift.
Riot also revealed first looks at the idle and ability animations for Tristana’s Rocket Jump (W). When Tristana launches forward, she reveals a blue set of wings, and her landing is surrounded by blue particle flames.
To create many of the skin’s sound effects, Riot borrowed recordings from Little Devil Teemo’s creation and other projects and combined them with library sounds of fire and animal voices.
The League of Legends developer still has a bit of work to do before Little Demon Tristana can hit the Rift, but fans should keep their eyes peeled for the next update regarding the skin’s sound effects and voice over processing.
