MSI 2019 has been one of the most exciting and surprising tournaments in League of Legends history, featuring two of the biggest upsets happening a day apart. Yesterday, Team Liquid took down Invictus Gaming in four games and G2 Esports stunned SK Telecom T1 in a well-fought five-game series today.

With both G2 and Liquid looking to bring glory to their respective regions, it’s only fitting that those matchups were the most-viewed matches of the entire tournament, according to EsportsCharts. SKT vs. G2 garnered a peak viewership of over 1.7 million, which is almost 400,000 more viewers than the Invictus vs. Liquid series. These numbers do not include Chinese or Russian viewership, however.

G2 vs. SKT was the most-watched series of the tournament due to its implications. A G2 win would create the first international finals between North American and Europe. An SKT victory would give Korea a chance to take back its place as the leaders of the League of Legends world.

Liquid vs. Invictus was the second-most viewed series of the tournament for good reason. This was North America’s chance to finally reach the finals of an international tournament for the second time in League history. They were also going up against the defending world champions and were huge underdogs as a result. These numbers might have been even greater, but the broadcast time was incredibly early for NA fans.

There’s only one more series left, and it’s a doozy. One of the biggest rivalries in esports will be decided on Summoner’s Rift between the best teams to ever represent Europe and North America.

Who will win the Battle of the Atlantic? You can watch all the action when the finals of MSI 2019 begin tomorrow (Sunday, May 19) at 2am CT.
