LoL players agree this meta item shouldn’t be so cheap

I demand a nerf.

Umbral Glaive has been one of the best items in League of Legends for a while, and players are now realizing the price tag of just 2,300 gold is ridiculously cheap for what it gives champions.

After seeing Caitlyns, Kai’Sas, Kalistas, and other AD champions dominate Summoner’s Rift, a player named StillIDie on Reddit proclaimed Umbral Glaive “has no business” being so cheap.

When compared to Eclipse, another Lethality item, it seems like Riot Games didn’t do the math well. While Eclipse is a Mythic item that costs 3,100 gold and gives 60 attack damage, 15 ability haste, and 12 Lethality, Umbral Glaive gives 50 attack damage, 15 ability haste, and 13 Lethality for 2,300 gold.

First of all, these items give quite similar stats but one costs 800 gold less. On top of this, Eclipse only gives a temporary shield, while Umbral Glaive reveals stealthed wards and provides bonus damage on any existing ward, even if you don’t reveal it.

Originally, Umbral Glaive was supposed to be an item for AD supports like Pyke, Senna, and Pantheon, and it was meant to help them out in the vision game. Recently, other champions have been picking up this item, and it’s impossible to contest this level of vision control, especially if more than one player builds it.

According to this player, the solution is simple—lock the item so only supports can purchase it, or increase the cost so it truly matches its value.

While some players agree, others would delete the item altogether from the game because there is no AP equivalent and it’s hard to contest vision control when you’re, for example, playing Lulu.

Hopefully, Riot will fix this soon.
