Griffin are sitting at the top of the LCK table after a dominating run for the first half of the season. And now they’re about to get more of a reward than just first place.

Despite being a team created entirely of rookie players, Griffin stand above their veteran LCK competitors with an impressive 8-1 match record. Griffin have won all but one of their LCK matches, beating some of the league’s best teams including KINGZONE Dragon X, Gen.G, and Afreeca Freecs along the way. The only team to have bested Griffin on Summoner’s Rift is KT Rolster, who, alongside Afreeca are tied for fifth place, just barely in playoff contention.

The organization has, of course, noticed. The team announced it would reward the players for their near-perfect start to life in the LCK by giving all them, and their head coach Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho, 10 million Korean won (about $9,000) each as a reward.

“Please cheer us through the rest of our journey,” the organization said in its announcement, calling the 10 million won “a form of encouragement” and a way to congratulate the team on a “vigorous takeoff.”

The newest LCK team, Griffin first entered the league at the start of the Summer Split after an undefeated run in both Challengers Korea, and the Promotion tournament. Griffin entered the LCK with a 16 match winstreak, which grew to 22 before it was ended by KT in the Summer Split’s third week.

Griffin will make their return to SPOTV’s Nexon Arena tomorrow when they face Afreeca in the LCK Summer Split’s week five opener.
