Azael confident FlyQuest have the edge against G2 at Worlds 2025: ‘The only place I favor G2 is the mid lane’

League of Legends analyst and LCS caster Azael believes FlyQuest have the upper hand heading into their Worlds 2025 matchup against G2 Esports.

Azael said in the LTA Dive podcast that he’s impressed with FlyQuest’s consistency and cohesion throughout the tournament, but when asked where G2 might hold an advantage, he didn’t hesitate. He admitted that the only position he favors G2 in is mid lane, where Caps remains the team’s standout threat.

“I think the only place I favor G2 is the mid lane,” Azael said, noting that Caps’ creativity and clutch factor remain major variables. “I’m scared of their drafting and Caps’ X-factor.”

While he acknowledged G2’s unpredictability as a potential wildcard at Worlds 2025, Azael sees FlyQuest as the more complete team beyond the mid lane. He was particularly blunt in assessing Europe’s top lane talent, calling it one of the weak points, with Brokenblade failing to meet expectations in recent international tournaments.

“The top laners in Europe are extremely weak,” Azael said. “Oscarinin is not good at all, and Myrwn is not very good,” referring to Fnatic and Movistar KOI. While Fnatic have been eliminated, Movistar KOI are still in contention for the Knockout Stage.

That confidence reflects his belief in Bwipo, who has been one of FlyQuest’s most stable performers on the international stage. The Belgian veteran could easily become the difference maker in the contest. He also pointed to FlyQuest’s bot lane as another strength, saying the synergy between Massu and Busio has developed into one of the team’s key win conditions. “I think we have a better bot lane,” Azael said, crediting their solid laning.

Even though the match between G2 and FlyQuest ensures that at least one Western team reaches the Knockouts, Azael said he’d have preferred FlyQuest to face an LCK or LPL team because he thinks that FlyQuest have a fairly easy draw at Worlds 2025.

FlyQuest face G2 on Oct. 22, with a direct ticket to the Worlds 2025 playoffs on the line. While the loser will still have one more chance to qualify, the path only gets steeper from there. For Azael, it’s a matchup defined by confidence versus creativity, and he’s betting that FlyQuest’s structure and stability will be enough to overcome G2’s chaos.
