Fnatic have been officially eliminated from Worlds 2025 after a winless run, becoming the first European team to exit the international tournament.
Head coach Grabbz weighed in on what went wrong and what’s next for Fnatic. “Could be a staff issue, could be again just a thing with reconfiguring certain players. This is not the showing we want to have, consequences will have to happen. I think this team itself has run its course. From home staff to players, we’ll have to see. If the organization feels a different head coach could be better, then it’s just what it is.” Grabbz said in a post-match interview with Laure Valée.
Fnatic finished third in the LEC Summer Split, defeating Karmine Corp to qualify for Worlds. While they were the European third seed, fans would’ve expected a better showing at the tournament as they managed to keep their Worlds qualification streak alive this year.
Fnatic tried introducing some key changes before the Summer Split, replacing the longtime veteran mid laner Humanoid with Poby to inject fresh blood into the squad, but the team couldn’t perform up to expectations.
Grabbz argued that an easier Worlds 2025 draw for Fnatic could’ve spelled a different fortune for the team, but it doesn’t matter now as the team is looking to undergo a complete change in players or staff to start their next campaign in the LEC.
To wrap up the interview, Grabbz apologized to fans for Fnatic’s “unacceptable” performance and urged them to look forward to G2 Esports. Their rivals are now just one match away from locking their spot in the Worlds 2025 Knockout Stage.
