Fortnite players are imagining funny interactions with the ice sphere at Polar Peak

The ice sphere sparked the curiosity of players in a fun way.

Fortnite: Battle Royale players seem to be getting tired of the mystery behind the ice sphere floating over Polar Peak.

We spotted the orb right after the v7.20 update went live. So far, we only know that if you walk below it, an ice effect takes over your screen, and if you try to build toward it, you can see the silhouette of the Ice King inside it. A leak has also shown that the Ice King should eventually be more visible inside this ice sphere with flame-like shapes around it, which look like a countdown to some kind of event.

And players can’t do anything but wait. It’s impossible to interact with the sphere, since bullets and pickaxe hits just miss it and player builds can’t touch it.

But the wait is killing everyone. That’s why some players have gone to the Fortnite subreddit and started sharing funny interactions that they wish their items and characters could have with the ice sphere.

Speed up this thing!

User Mark_VDB received the most praise from the community for putting a Cozy Campfire under the floating ice sphere, saying “we won’t need to wait much longer” for the ice to melt and reveal what’s inside.

Unfortunately, the campfire actually does nothing, and unlike the iceberg players destroyed together southwest of the map, it seems like there’s nothing we can do to speed up the process. And some players are not only fine with it, but they think we should wait even longer.

Protect the King

User gladboii decided it’s not the right time to possibly unleash the power of the Ice King. The user surrounded the ice sphere with Chiller traps, which instead of freezing the feet of a player passing by them would help to maintain the low temperature of the sphere under the sun.

But as you can guess, it’s also impossible to delay the impending release of the Ice King’s powers over the Fortnite island. As Tolkien would describe this situation, “a King is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.”

Someone else’s problem

Having an ice sphere threatening to unleash the powers of an unknown evil entity over the island where you live is far from exciting. User Robobeeps asked “why don’t we just take the ice ball and push it somewhere else?” They surrounded the ice sphere with Bouncer traps that would send it flying through the skies to whatever is beyond the limits of the Fortnite island, making any event related to it happen miles away from Polar Peak.

But despite these users’ efforts, the ice sphere isn’t going anywhere until the Ice King is ready to get out, it seems. Everything we know about the sphere so far points toward a season-ending event tied to it, but one that will slowly unfold as days and weeks go by. After all, we still don’t understand why there might be dragon eggs under the Ice Castle.
