Powerpuff Girls to headline season 3 of MultiVersus

Three characters in one.

Another season of MultiVersus is on the way, the crossover fighting game that brings multiple Warner Bros. characters under one roof to duke it out against each other. More Cartoon Network characters are joining the roster in season three, with the Powerpuff Girls, are coming on Sept. 17.

Premiering in the late 90s, The Powerpuff Girls centered around three girls who were created in a lab by a professor and accidentally given superpowers, which they used to defend the city of Townsville from various threats and monsters. After being hinted at in a previous trailer, all three of the girls are now playable as one singular character, utilizing various fighting moves that switch out which girl is attacking at a given moment. As expected from MultiVersus, the girls come prepared with plenty of unique quips when interacting with the other characters from different franchises.

The trailer for the Powerpuff Girls’ gameplay also briefly featured some of the new costumes that will be added as part of the game for new and existing characters. One of the alternate costumes for the Powerpuff Girls is the RowdyRuff Boys, male versions of the main heroines created by their archnemesis Mojo Jojo to act as their evil counterparts. The trailer also shows off a new variation of the Townsville stage, which appears much more destroyed than the previous iteration.

Finally, although no gameplay of her was shown, MultiVersus also confirmed that DC’s Nubia will also be joining the roster mid-season. Holding the title of Queen of the Amazons as well as being a longtime ally of Wonder Woman, Nubia sounds like another solid addition to the game’s already strong DC lineup.
