Goodbye freebies.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s first DLC fighter, Piranha Plant, is now available on the Nintendo Switch eshop for the humble price of $4.99—so long as you can find it.

Currently, the only way to find the fighter on the Switch online store is to search for “Piranha Plant” in the search bar. The character does not yet appear in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tab at the time of writing.

The sale of the character comes after the deadline to get the Plant for free passed yesterday. Those who had purchased the game and registered it before Jan. 31 would have got a free code for the character in their emails as an early purchase bonus.

If you registered the game yesterday and didn’t get Piranha Plant, then don’t panic or rush off to buy the fighter now. Codes could take up to three days to appear in your email.

Failing that, it’s best to contact Nintendo through their customer support to see what is going on. The last thing you want to do is purchase something you were entitled to get for free.

It is worth noting that Piranha Plant is also not a part of the DLC Fighters Pass, which is set to offer five new characters sometime over the next year. The first of these characters is Joker from the Persona series.
