The five characters were kept a mystery by Nintendo when the Fighters Pass was first announced in November 2018. No one knew who they are or when they’ll be unveiled, which makes every future Nintendo Direct a potential character reveal.

The first of these characters, Joker from Atlus’ Persona series, was revealed just before the game launched on Dec. 8 at The Game Awards 2018.

But when will this character be released?

Joker was released on April 17, 2019, along with the huge 3.0.0 update which added new modes into the game like Stage Builder.

After Joker’s release, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has four more DLC characters in the works as part of the DLC Fighters Pass. Who those characters are at the moment, however, remains a mystery.
