SonixFox and GO1 are long-time rivals in the scene, having met in multiple grand finals. In the battle between the best two players in the world, however, only one could come out on top.

SonixFox had dominated most of the tournament and looked to be on an undefeated streak after his first victory against GO1 in Winners Finals. GO1 fought back, however, in Losers Finals against Fenritti to set up a rematch with SonixFox for the title.

After resetting the bracket and inflicting SonixFox’s first match loss of the entire tournament, the stakes were raised heading into the final match with everything on the line. Sonixfox, however, discovered his inner super saiyan to take the title for himself with a confident 3-0 victory in the last match of the day.

Dragon Ball FighterZ was making its Evo debut at this year’s event and it did not disappoint. The game bought in an impressive amount of competitors this year to be the most contested game of the show with 2,500 people signed up to compete for the title.

FighterZ dethroned Street Fighter as the most signed up game at Evo for the first time in a number of years. The Street Fighter series has had a dominant grip over EVO for the past few years ranging back as far as 2011 when Street Fighter IV was the main game of the show.

Those 2,500 people, however, were brought down to just eight heading into the finals after days of hectic action.

It was a great Evo debut for FighterZ. The crowd constantly got involved with every fight by reacting to every super and cheering for every great play. With FighterZ impressing in its first year, the game has made a case to be an Evo staple moving forward.
