Unlike many items in Abiotic Factor, Fiber Optic Cable isn’t easy to farm. At the time of writing, it’s only available via exchange at the Blacksmith’s Shop, located in Manufacturing West. The shop is operated through a window built into a white wall structure with a large banner with the text “F.O.R.G.E” on top. Once near it, you’ll see the Blacksmith NPC standing inside.

Now, to get one Fiber Optic Cable, you need to exchange one Solder with the Blacksmith via the Drop Box located just outside the window. After you drop a Solder in the Drop Box slot, open the Trader Output box on its side to get a Fiber Optic Cable.

Solder is a craftable material in Abiotic Factor. You can cook it in a Cooking Pot using a Stove and the right ingredients, but before that, you have to unlock the recipe first. For that, go to the Blacksmith’s Shop and analyze the fuming Cooking Pot on the left side of the shop window. This unlocks the Solder recipe for you to start crafting it.

With the recipe unlocked, just follow these steps to cook Solder in Abiotic Factor:

1. Take a Cooking Pot in your hand and fill it with clean water.
2. Put the pot on a Stove and then add one Metal Scrap and one Silver Scrap.
3. Let this “Uncooked Solder” cook for a while, and it will eventually yield four portions of Solder.
4. You can place the pot and then “scoop” up the Solder to add it to your inventory.

Now, you can take this Solder to the Blacksmith’s Shop and get Fiber Optic Cable in a 1:1 exchange ratio.

Fiber Optic Cable uses in Abiotic Factor

You’ll be using the Fiber Optic Cable for the first time in the Synchrotron quest. Beyond that, it’s used to craft two useful gear items in Abiotic Factor: Gate NVGs and Healing Briefcase. Gate NVGs gives a significant boost to your view, while Healing Briefcase, like its name suggests, heals your injuries.
