When is Tenpai Dragon coming to Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel?

Losing the coin toss with this deck might not feel as bad.

A popular Yu-Gi-Oh! deck that’s been a major force in the physical card game this year may soon be ready to take over Master Duel. Here’s what we know so far about when the Tenpai Dragon archetype could be added to Master Duel.

Konami has not announced a release date for Tenpai Dragon cards in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel yet. But based on some of the cards and strategies added to the digital game in the Sept. 12 update, the Tenpai Dragon archetype could be on its way soon.

One of the latest Selection Packs added in September 2024, Advance of Great Forces, brought the Ragnaraika archetype to Master Duel alongside new support cards for the Ancient Gear and Lightsworn strategies. These cards were a part of the Legacy of Destruction set in the physical TCG, which was released in North America in April 2024.

Legacy of Destruction is also the pack that brought the Tenpai Dragon archetype to the TCG. So if other cards and strategies from Legacy of Destruction are finally making their way into Master Duel, it stands to reason Tenpai Dragon cards could be added to the digital game soon, too.

I think it’s a safe guess that Tenpai Dragon should become available in Master Duel by the end of 2024. At the absolute latest, the archetype should join the playable game by early 2025. And at the earliest, Tenpai Dragon could be playable as early as October 2024. This is all speculation right now, however. This article will be updated when Konami officially confirms the release date of the Tenpai Dragon archetype in Master Duel.

The Tenpai Dragon archetype is a going-second strategy that looks to one-turn kill (OTK) opponents by dealing massive battle damage—potentially up to 30,000 damage. Since the deck wants to go second, the addition of the Tenpai Dragon strategy could have massive implications on the best-of-one meta in Master Duel. You’ll have to think twice about going first if you win the coin toss and aren’t playing Tenpai—you could be playing against a Tenpai player who wants to go second. And if you lose the coin toss and your opponent chooses to go second, there’s a good chance you’re facing off against a Tenpai player.
