I’m amazed and even slightly embarrassed I stumbled on these NYT Mini Crossword clues. The answers were staring me straight in the face. But hey, it’s Monday, it’s early, and you clearly got stuck, too.

Stop! I’m about to uncover the answers.

Did you get it? You must have. The answer to one across in the Sept. 16 New York Mini Crossword is “ONE,” and the answer to four across is “FOUR.” One, as in one across, and four, as in four across. Everyone just let out a collective “D’OH.” At least I know I did when I finally landed on the answers. The NYT occasionally likes to throw out clues like this. Although they should be easy, I often overthink them.

Despite initially struggling with these clues (I blame lack of sleep), they’re as easy as it comes for the NYT Mini Crossword. Unless you tried to overthink and ended up confusing yourself, you should get it in the end. I’m giving this a one out of five on the difficulty rating scale.
