‘Openly confesses’ clue difficulty
I’ll admit I was a little stumped by this clue because there were several answer possibilities. Although I know of the word “avow,” purely because of the game Avowed, I didn’t know what it meant. So, I wasn’t entirely sure it was the answer. But my suspicions were confirmed when I solved the entire crossword puzzle. If you were like me and weren’t sure what avows meant or had never heard of this word before, this clue would have been impossible to solve, so I’m giving it a difficulty rating of five out of five.
