“Hear me roar” is a broad subject that can lead you in the wrong direction in the word game, though the path to completion becomes much clearer when you find the Spangram and identify some of the words.

If you’re stuck and need some assistance, we’re here to help.

‘Head me roar’ Strands Spangram hints and answer (Aug. 19)

  • Hint 1: Today’s Spangram is short, consisting of six letters and two separate words.
  • Hint 2: The Spangram’s first letter is “B” and the last letter is “T”.
  • Hint 3: Think of large, carnivorous animals you might see at the zoo.

Aug. 19’s Spangram is “BIGCAT,” referring to a group of animals spread all over the world that resemble your household feline friend in a much larger and often more dangerous form. The Spangram starts from the “B” in the fifth row of the left column and ends on the “T” in the sixth row of the right column.

‘Hear me roar’ Strands word hints and final solution

Once you have identified the Spangram, completing most other theme words on the board should be relatively easy. However, some are trickier and confusing due to other words that are recognizable in the area—like “Polar” in the top-left of the board. We’ve got some tips to help though.

  • Hint 1: Another name for a Mountain Lion or an attractive older woman. (6 letters)
  • Hint 2: You can’t change its spots. (7 letters)
  • Hint 3: An NFL franchise in Carolina. (7 letters)

‘Hear me roar’ Strands (Aug. 19) difficulty rating and solving process

I found this one of the easiest Strands solves I’ve done to date, though spotting “Cheetah” before finding the Spangram helped. From there, I had a pretty good idea that the remainder of the board would be similar animals.

I found cougar and Leopard the hardest to find because I couldn’t get “Polar” out of my head for Leopard. I even tried to see if “Bear” was nearby, even though bears certainly do not fall into the Big Cat category.

Rating the challenge on a five-star difficulty scale, I’d give it two out of five. No doubt it would be harder for anyone less versed in the animal kingdom, but don’t be discouraged if you have struggled.
