Who is VALORANT Agent 29? Everything we know so far

This one's going to "morph" the way you play VALORANT.

Riot Games deploys a plethora of changes regularly to keep VALORANT fresh, but the meta shifts most dramatically when a new agent is introduced. If you’re wondering who the next VALORANT agent is and whether they fit your choice of role, you’ve come to the right place for answers.

The upcoming VALORANT agent will technically be its 28th playable character, but they’ll be marked as Agent 29 due to the “missing Agent 8” mystery in Protocol’s records, which pushes the numbering system. As of Oct. 5, Riot has officially revealed Agent 29’s name, origin, and abilities, so here’s everything there is to know.

VALORANT Agent 29 name, origin, and role

The next VALORANT agent is named Veto and hails from West Africa’s Senegal. He’s a sentinel, so you now have seven options in this crucial role.

Before the reveal, Riot teased Veto’s appearance, role, and origin in several ways, including a poster displayed at the Masters Toronto event that hinted at his build and origin location and a player card in Act Four’s battle pass featuring his symbol.

Riot also revealed Veto’s intriguing lore through dossiers on the Corrode map and voice comms between agents in the Practice Range.

If you missed the story, here’s a brief: Omega Earth’s defensive unit Atlas had a deadly plan to deploy a “Megaspike” in Paris during the FLX World Tour, the very event hosted by Phoenix’s sister, Mary. With Brimstone’s approval, Tejo recruited Veto to keep Mary safe as well as act as “an FLX insider” to help VALORANT Protocol stop Omega Earth’s destructive plan. After the mission’s success, Veto agreed to join Protocol to continue serving Alpha Earth’s cause.

VALORANT Agent 29 release date

Just like the dossiers suggested, Riot revealed Agent 29—Veto—on Oct. 5 during the grand finals event of VCT Champions 2025. And according to the official announcement, Veto goes live in VALORANT on Oct. 7.

After installing the required patch on release day, you’ll need to grind a bit for XP through the Agent Recruitment event to unlock Veto and play him. Or, you can subscribe to an Xbox Game Pass plan to unlock him instantly.

Potential abilities of VALORANT Agent 29

Riot has revealed all of Agent 29, or Veto’s, abilities. Here’s a rundown:

  1. Interceptor (Signature): Deploy an Interceptor that destroys selective enemy abilities.
  2. Crosscut (Basic): Deploy vortex anchors that Veto can teleport to.
  3. Chokehold (Basic): A trap that seizes enemies when triggered.
  4. Evolution (Ultimate): Become immune to all kinds of ability debuffs, regenerate health, and gain combat stim.
