Best mods in Oblivion Remastered

Mod it up!

While Bethesda has done a fine job with remastering the iconic Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, mods can further enhance your gameplay experience in the beautiful nation of Cyrodiil. If you’re looking for a list of the best Oblivion Remastered mods, we’ve got you covered.

Whether you don’t like how the HUD looks or want to eliminate a challenging mechanic, there’s likely a mod for everything you need in an Elder Scrolls game. Oblivion Remastered is no different, but there are a couple of things you need to keep in mind before you install all the mods you want.

Can you use mods in Oblivion Remastered?

This is a tricky question to answer. While Bethesda has officially announced that Oblivion Remastered doesn’t support mods, it turns out you can still develop mods for the game even without an official creation kit.

If you open up Nexus Mods, you’ll see several uploads for Oblivion Remastered. You can install and use any of these legit mods, but you may face performance issues. In that case, you may need to remove all mods and play the game as it’s meant to be. Old Oblivion mods will likely not work with the Remastered version.

Carry Weight Modifier

If you’re annoyed by the carry weight restriction in Oblivion Remastered and don’t want to use a hard-earned skill point to boost it, this mod is for you.

The Carry Weight Modifier uses Lockpicks to help you set the amount of weight you can carry at a time. It changes the weight of a Lockpick to -150. The more Lockpicks you add to your inventory, the greater your carry capacity becomes. You’ll also need a lot of Lockpicks to crack open chests and doors in Cyrodiil, so this mod is definitely a win-win.

Achievement Unblocker

A lot of achievements in Oblivion Remastered are locked behind side quests, but you can open up all of them using the Achievement Unlocker mod. This also solves the issue that causes all achievements to get locked if you open the console command menu.

Better HUD

If you don’t like how your stat bars look in Oblivion Remastered, the Better HUD mod makes everything look better and less cluttered. It shrinks the compass size by 60 percent and shifts the HP, Mana, and Stamina bars to the left. It also makes the status icons smaller, letting you focus on what’s important. You can avail this mod for multiple resolutions, including 16:9, 16:10, and 21:9.

Ayleid Reshade

If you think the remaster looks a bit dull compared to The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, don’t sleep on the Ayleid Reshade mod that lets you “experience glorious visuals by reclaiming the colors and light” of the original experience and boost Unreal Engine 5’s potential for this game.

Ultimate Engine Tweaks

Oblivion Remastered is an excellent game, but it’s not immune to performance hiccups. If you’re facing too many stutters and glitches while exploring the rich open world, the Ultimate Engine Tweaks mod is for you. It targets the Engine.ini file to tackle stutters, address performance and stability issues, and improve visual clarity. It also reduces input lag, all while having no negative effect on the graphics.

Difficulty Slider Fixed

Whether you’re a beginner or an Elder Scrolls expert, the difficulty settings in Oblivion Remastered may appear a bit too erratic: Some levels are way too easy, while the game becomes uncomfortably hard at the highest setting. If you want a more “granular” experience, consider downloading the Difficulty Slider Fixed mod that offers fairer jumps between difficulty levels.

To download any of these mods, visit the official page on Nexus Mods and look in the description for the developer’s installation guide.
