I’ve encountered the vast majority of themes you can face in this game, and this is easily one of the trickiest ones to dress for. It’s a lot easier to tackle with a bit of guidance, so here’s how to create a Surrealism look in Roblox’s Dress to Impress and some outfit inspiration to help you design the perfect outfit.

To create a Surrealism outfit in Dress to Impress, you need to create a look that channels a bizarre and experimental aesthetic. Your goal is to create something truly unique, artistic, and confusing to look at—in a good way. It’s a very tough task to complete, but it’s a lot easier once you grasp what this theme is all about.

What does Surrealism mean in Dress to Impress?

Surrealism refers to a 20th-century avant-garde art and literature style. It’s a tough style to pin down in an outfit with a lot of room for flexibility, but it generally refers to illogical, uncanny, dreamlike, and experimental designs that aim to express the unconscious mind.

Illogical juxtaposition, which refers to two things next to each other that contrast or don’t make sense, is a key concept to use when designing your look. Patterns like striped lines work really well here, as do simple colors like black and white with pops of color.

Mixing and matching between patterns is a must since contrast is a Surrealist staple. It’s also a good idea to use lots of layering to really create a striking design, which is key for this theme and just about every other Dress to Impress theme, like Divine Being, Jewelry Overload, and Galactic Glam.

Surrealism Dress to Impress outfit inspiration

Although the Surrealism theme in Dress to Impress can be daunting, it becomes a lot easier to tackle with some outfit inspiration, so here are some of the best outfit ideas to get you started.

1) Art

One of the best ways to approach this theme is by choosing a Surrealist piece of art to base your look on it. An example of this is the following look I made inspired by The Son of Man by René Magritte mixed with some general Surrealist art I found on Pinterest. This outfit got me first place on the podium.

You can either base your entire outfit on one art piece, or find a few and loosely be inspired by all of them to create something unique. Regardless of which route you take, this is the overall best way to get inspired and design a truly extraordinary look for this theme.

Examples of some Surrealism paintings you can be inspired by for this look are The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dalí, Golconda by René Magritte, The Harlequin’s Carnival by Joan Miró, and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Dorothea Tanning. There’s plenty of stunning artwork out there to choose from.

2) Black and white contrast

If you’re struggling with this theme, consider creating a completely black-and-white look with lots of contrast like this player did. It’s a really great way to nail the Surrealism style without getting too complex. Layering and using lots of different patterns is still crucial, but it’s easier to really perfect the basics of this theme with a simpler color palette.

3) Pinterest

Although well-known artwork is usually the best way to go for this theme, searching for Surrealism on Pinterest can also be pretty helpful. I used this method mixed with a famous painting to achieve my best look for this theme, so it’s a viable option alone or in combination with other inspirations you find.

4) Warm contrast

Another trend that’s fairly popular across Surrealist art is warm-toned designs, which means you can create a warm contrast-based look for this theme. Make sure you use lots of layering and try to incorporate a few pops of different colors like this player did to contrast the main color with some other ones.
