The League of Legends European Championship (LEC) continues to gain more sponsors today by bringing in energy provider Shell as an official partner.

Shell is the latest high-profile organization to partner with the LEC over the past week, following deals with KIA Motors and Lagardere Sports. This is also Shell’s first step into esports, according to Riot’s announcement.

As part of the partnership with the LEC, Shell will be sponsoring the Baron Power Plays during matches on the weekly broadcasts. In addition, for each Baron Nashor taken, fans watching Twitch’s German-language stream will have a chance to win XP Boosts.

League fans in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland will be able to get a free skin code at the 2019 DACH Premier Tour. German residents who are Shell ClubSmart loyalty cardholders will also get seven-day XP bonuses when they attend an LEC or DAH Premier Tour event.

In addition, Shell will offer League rewards within its ClubSmart loyalty program, including Hextech chests and keys, champions and skins, RP points, and more, when fans use their cards at specific locations.

There has been no announcement of similar plans for other countries in Europe at the moment, however, so this partnership seems to be focusing on the German-speaking audience for the time being.
