G2 Esports continue their undefeated streak in the EU LCS Summer Split with a convincing victory over Schalke 04 on Friday.

G2 once again chose to put the funnel strategy into action by pouring their resources into mid laner Luka “Perkz” Perković on the Kai’Sa. G2 used a few more supports in their composition last week, however, taking on a Fnatic-like team composition with two supports in the bot lane, one in the jungle, and a tank in the top.

In the opening few minutes, Schalke had no answer to Perkz’s Kai’Sa as he casually found himself with a 50 CS lead in the opening ten minutes over his mid lane opponent. Perkz used his lead to roam through the jungle and lanes, piling pressure onto Schalke as G2 looked for a quick victory.

Even when Schalke found kills and fights when Kai’Sai wasn’t around to ruin their day, G2 found objectives of their own in opposite lanes and the jungle to keep their slow gold lead rising. The successful trading not only gave G2 more control over the map, but also control over the game, as they looked towards a comfortable win.

Schalke tried to sneak the Baron at the 20-minute mark as G2 pushed the bot lane in a last-ditch attempt to keep the team in the game, but it ended up backfiring. The team did not have the power needed to shred the Baron quick enough and G2 arrived just in time to nearly get the ace and steal the buff, using it to break into the base and take the win moments later.

It was another quick victory for G2 who continue to show the EU LCS how to run the funnel strategy to full effect. If G2 continue to show this dominance, they could easily be challenging for those all-important Worlds spots at the end of the Summer Split.

With the victory under their belts, an undefeated G2 take on H2k Gaming tomorrow, while Schalke face off against Roccat on the same day to end week two of the EU LCS.

Hopefully H2k can learn from Schalke’s defeat and do the smart thing—ban Kai’Sa.
