Riot explains why Faker’s signature was removed from Prestige T1 Sylas skin

No autograph from the GOAT?

T1’s Worlds Champion 2024 cosmetics have finally landed on Summoner’s Rift, and sharp-eyed players were quick to point out a missing detail often associated with Worlds skins.

Fans noticed that Faker’s Prestige Sylas skin doesn’t feature his signature. The developer swiftly addressed the concern.

“The Prestige World Champion skins haven’t had the signature in the past, either, as they use the Prestige Border. So this is by design to keep things consistent,” Matt Buchholtz, League’s Global Community Lead, said, responding to a player’s query on Reddit. He also assured players that the developer is experimenting with new Prestige Borders, starting with Sylas, and they’re actively seeking community feedback.

T1’s World Championship skins feature player signatures during their recall animations, and this also applies to the Prestige versions. However, unlike the regular skins, Prestige skins do not display signatures on the loading screen card because they already have the borders.

For the first time, Faker’s Prestige Sylas skin briefly included the signature on the card, but Riot later removed it, explaining that it was never intended to be there. The change confused the community, as some players believed the signature should have remained.

Matt also noted that preferences around signatures and borders are subjective. While some players prefer a clean, unobstructed loading screen, others appreciate the added flair of signatures, making community input a crucial factor in shaping future cosmetic choices for developers to create the skins the community loves.

Whether the signature returns to the skin remains to be seen, as the developer is currently focused on gathering feedback to strike the right balance between clarity and customization.

Meanwhile, T1 were clean-swept in the LCK season playoffs by rivals, HLE. They now need to defeat the winner of the Dplus KIA and BNK FEARX to secure the fourth seed for Worlds 2025.
