NALCS Spring Musings

Welcome to the first installment of my self-important musings that I will hopefully continue to do for kicks and giggles. Keep in mind that this is a very lighthearted glimpse into how each NALCS team will perform in the coming split.

Welcome to the first installment of my self-important musings that I will hopefully continue to do for kicks and giggles.  Keep in mind that this is a very lighthearted glimpse into how each NALCS team will perform in the coming split.  It is also rather short because my ego is weak right now; please feed it with your adoration.

Cloud 9

Current Roster: Balls (top) / Meteos (jungle) / Hai (mid) / Sneaky (ADC) / LemonNation (support)

Another split with no roster changes.  Expect greatness from Cloud 9 as per usual, but stay aware of the ticking clock, as they are nearing 2 full years without a roster change.  Usually by this time, a team has to make some sort of change, but usually that team is not as cohesive as Cloud 9 is.  The only time I see them making a roster change is after S5 Worlds, since they will have plenty of time then to merge the new guy into the Cloud 9 collective.

TSM (aka FreeSM)

Current Roster: Dyrus (top) / Santorin (jungle) / Bjergsen (mid) / WildTurtle (ADC) / Lustboy (support)

Let’s face it, TSM getting rekt by the Unicorns is going to be the worst they will do this season.  Santorin joining the fold is probably the best replacement for Amazing.  Personally, I think he will be a bit of an improvement over Amazing, who is better mechanically by far, but Santorin doesn’t need the support network that Amazing needs.

Team Impulse

Current Roster: Impact (top) / Rush (jungle) / XiaoWeiXiao (mid) / Apollo (ADC) / Adrian (support)

*Tips fedora*

Essentially a challenger squad formed in a similar way to Lemondogs late 2013, except Impulse kept their mid laner and submitted their paperwork.  This is an odd team to analyze really, since on paper they could do really well, with two established veterans in XiaoWeiXiao and Impact and an LCS rookie that did well in Apollo.  On the other hand, the communication barrier might cause them to tip their way out of the LCS.

Team Liquid (aka Team please please please send me one of those jackets)

Current Roster: Quas (top) / IWillDominate (jungle) / FeniX (mid) / Piglet (ADC) / Xpecial (support)

Now that they are no longer Curse, maybe they can go to worlds this year instead of being cursed to be forever 4th place.  I have no doubts Piglet will perform, but we’ll see if Fenix adapts well to switching to mid lane.  Personally, I believe in his tutelage under Lord Flame and Shy, so that he can surpass the bar Voyboy set.

Team Dignitoss

Current Roster: Gamsu (top) / Crumbzz (jungle) / Shiphtur (mid) / Core JJ (ADC) / KiWiKiD (support)

Hopefully they don’t perform nearly as bad as they did at IEM.  The showing from their Korean imports was just sad, mainly in their top laner Gamsu.  I doubt Dignitas will actually get past 5th place in the playoffs though, especially without swagmaster qtpie.

Counter Logic Gaming

Current Roster: ZionSpartan (top) / Xmithie (jungle) / Link (mid) / Doublelift (ADC) / Aphromoo (support)

Literally CLG every split:

Potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential, potential™.

I’m anxious to see what tricks Scarra will whip up for the first three weeks.

Winterfox (aka Team Korea)

Current Roster: Avalon (top) / Helios (jungle) / Pobelter (mid) / Altec (ADC) / Imagine (support)

With two Pobelters and three Koreans, how can this team lose?  Don’t worry friends, they’ll find a way.  Although at least with this lineup, the team formerly known as Evil Geniuses can probably beat their second to last curse and get 8th place instead.

Team 8

Current Roster: CaliTrlolz (top) / PorpoisePops (jungle) / Slooshi (mid) / frommaplestreet (ADC) / Dodo8 (support)

I guess they named themselves Team 8 because they know they’re going to get 8th place.  Obvious jokes aside, I don’t see them outperforming any established team consistently, except maybe Dignitas.  The CaliTrlolz meme picks will be entertaining though.

Gravity (not the movie)

Current Roster: Hauntzer (top) / Saintvicious (jungle) / Keane (mid) / Cop (ADC) / Bunny FuFuu (support)

I think they rebranded to Gravity because they’re going to fall to the bottom of the standings.  Either that, or so they could defy gravity and rise to the top of the LCS.  I doubt that though, since most likely, Gravity Boys will stay within the middle of the pack.  Out of the new teams, they are probably tied with Winterfox for the best chance of snagging a playoffs spot.

Team Coast V2

Current Roster: Cris (top) / Impaler (jungle) / Jesiz (mid) / Mash (ADC) / Sheep (support)

Featuring Dyrus on support and Dyrus as a coach, let’s see if the EULCS veterans can lead this team well enough to stay in the LCS.  I’m looking at Cris to perform consistently well, as I have no doubts that the rest of the team will perform up to par.
